sti tranny's goes out? i don't think so. WRX tranny's.... most definately.

I've driven both Evo and STi. Both car has great power. I must say, the evo was one hell of a car. Handle awesome. The STi just had bottom end power. I wouldve went with the Evo8 but insurance would just put one hell of a hurtin' in my wallet. I didn't even get the STi either. I ended up with a 04 wrx

I bought it brand new. Yes! The tranny was crap. I've gone through 3 of them. The 4th time I put a JDM STi tranny swap to put an end to it.

I joined the forum yesterday to scope out some used Evo8s. Now that Im 21 and can pay for majority of my bills. Im going to take on this challenge paying $160 a month for the evo That's quite a bit!! but it's the car I should have bought in late 2003.

Here is the car I have right now. Soon to be parted out back to bone stock so I can sell her. I have way too much money wrapped up in this to sell it the way it is. Probably would get barely next to bluebook. So parting it out is the way to go this time.

Car looks great.

What are you talking about with $160.00 is that the payment you are expecting or what your insurance is going to be?

personally i choose the evolution because the history of the car, i also thought it was a better platform to work with apose to the sti, not that the sti isn't a good platform, both are great cars. After test driving both vehicles i like the handling and performance of the evolution better then the sti.

Also sti's are dime a dozen where i live and theres only like 5 evo or so, wanted something semi unique.

That's why i choose Evo over Sti.

STIs are like civics in Boston, everyone has one. Plus the handling of the evo felt much more crisp.

Damn all you guys talk about how common STis are where you are...I'm in Dallas right now and I've seen ONE STi since I've been here.

What a sweet WRX Don't freggin' sell it man, just add the Evo to your fleet

I do have some regrets about trading in my WRX but the Evo is an awesome machine. I'm fortunate to have been able to drive both, even though I didn't have an STi. I plan on getting ~93-95 Impretza L and doing an STi swap

I chose the evo because it had the same elements the STI offered as far as being AWD and having a turbo. Here the STI's are still in the 25k+ price range with miles north of 50k. Plus thus far the evo has been the best handling/braking car I have owned and for the price, you would be hard pressed to find a car other than the STI that has all the great elements.

I chose the EVO because after owning a RWD car I realized that I was not quite ready for a RWD car with lots of power (I had to total my dream car to find this out by the way ). Instead maybe an AWD car to help me stay on the road better!! Plus the EVO just looks good and everyone told me that STI's were way to hard to work on.

I didn't even know what an Evo was. haha. I was shopping for a new car, looking at the Acura TSX and TL and the Honda Accord. My friends bugged me to go test drive the STi and the Evo. After riding in the Evo, I fell in love and had to get one.

Also, the STi looks like a toy car... The Evo looks very sleak and has all the curves in all the right places. The leather and sunroof package is sweeeetttt and makes a great compromise for someone who still wants a little luxury.

Also, in St. Louis, I always see people on the road with WRX's and STi's. I RARELY run into an Evo. Plus, I've had so many people come up to compliment my ride and joke around about racing for pink slips. haha.
