i love my 05 evo 8 and i wouldnt trade it for an sti, however, my brother owns a sti and i find myself driving it alot...i think the interior kicks the evo interior's ***...also, its an 07 sti, and its got a lot of cool technology and features, such as being able to choose where your redline is with a turn of a switch, also you can control how much power goes to the front/back wheels....i would take either car, they are both amazing and fun to drive...plus i live close to ams and grd, so me and my bro have alot of fun building up are cars

sti has the rumble and the transmission.
first off the 6 spd gearing is too close... even for dd. The car has enough torque where i dont think the 6 speed geared that low i neccessary. Now the jdm sti only come with 2.0 so maybe thats why. the trans is bulletproof if driven correctly, but even the "weakest" transmissions still can be driven properly and own ***.
second the "subaru rumble" is so played out. find me 2 subarus that dont sound excatly the same regardless of mods. Ive seen the stockest wrx with just a turbo back sounds like any 3-400 hp wrx/sti.
The only subaru i would ever own is a swapped gc8. now a swapped 4g63 into a gc8 would be the awesome but who knows if anyone will ever get it to work, the king of turbo 4 cyl in the lightest awd chassis = owange.
so on to my story, I had a built 90 talon tsi awd, loved that thing forged internals, 780cc, 60-1 supporting mods tons of fun, so i was a mitsu fan from the get go. I then settled for a 00 s4 6 spd, i sold the talon and saved up and bought the audi. Fun car, but just not quite ready to give up infinite possibilities for a car that with 10g under the hood still runs 12s. Finally found someone looking for an audi to trade who had a WW evo8. best trade ever and loving every second.

I considered both cars, but since I've owned 4g63t cars since 1991 I felt more comfortable sticking with the Evo. Besides I already had tools and knowledge specific to this drivetrain.

Well the old generation STI vs Evo I would take the Evo in a heartbeat (more aftermarket parts readily available plus a really stout engine), but the new generation (Evo X vs New Sti) I would take the new Sti because it is more of a drivers car, and they have strayed far away from using computer mechanics to its awd system. The new sti looks like it is geared toward being more hardcore, and appealing to a much more performance driven audience.
