How to buy jdm evo
How would one go about buying an earlier evo?? Maybe a III. I would LOVE a VI, but I figure that would be more expensvie. I really don't know much about the earlier evos. I would consider selling my gsx and bike for an earlier evo. But, I have NO clue where to look. How hard is it to bring one over??? There's a salesmen at the dealer I work at from Guatamalla(sp??) he had an evo 3 there, and got it from Japan. He said it would be easier/cheaper to get one from guatamalla(sp? again) than Japan. He spent about $1200 in shipping.
where do I start if I want to do this??

getting the car to the states = little problem
getting the car titled/registered =little- heavy problem
getting the car federalized = so expensive, it's impossible
If the car has not been approved for use by the DOT and NHTSA and it is used on public highways, and they find out, they can impound your car and crush it.
There are alot of skylines and other vehicles which are out on the road which have not gotten that little DOT sticker but are legally titled and registered like a beautiful black R32 GT-R sitting in a garage back in Arizona ... every time it's driven, you take a chance of getting busted. It's a small chance, but still a chance.
Everyone uses the skyline as an example because they see them on the road, so here's a little info on those:
There are a handfull of R32/R33/R34s which were federalized by Motorex, but then when the DOT found out that Motorex scamed them and falsified documents relating to their crash testing, Motorex lost their importation licence, and all the pre-paid skylines that were sitting in the warehouse in Cali were sent back to Japan, the owner fled the country and the people who pre-paid for the cars took it up the tail pipe.
