99 VR4 vs EVO IX
#18
Dont get rid of the VR4, like stated earlier this is a pro-evo forum. The Evo will NEVER hold value like a 99 VR4 will, I see some go for almost $40,000. Yours is low mileage also and Im guessing your either the first or second owner. The aftermarket for the VR4 has also been taking off in the past year or so with nice single turbo kits and what not. The VR4 is also built more solid than an Evo so it is a more cruising type oriented car while the Evo is more for performance, atleast thats hom Mitsu marketed them. Straighline there the same, stock for stock. Just keep the VR4 and get an Evo on the side to play with, some are going for around 18,000.

I know a couple guys locally that have vr4s and love them. I also know a good many guys with evos that love them. theres no way I would get rid of my 9 for a vr4. I love my 9 and I've driven the vr4s a good bit but they don't do it for me compared to the evo.

I will tell from personal experiance, I owned an mint 92 VR4 with all the BPU's except a front mount, running 15.5psi. I resently sold it because the Evo is easier to have fun it, easier and cheaper to modify and costs less to insure and maintain. I LOVED my VR4, best car I have ever owned and hands down better technology put into it, but the Evo was just a smarter buy. I was always afraid to drive the VR4 (56k original miles) but with the Evo, I dont really care (well when it is drivable I dont care) The VR4 handles just as well if not better than an Evo in my opinion and SCREAMS sex appeal. It's not everyday you can get good quailty tail (non hooker/****) from a car, but very possible in the VR4. If I hadnt of blown my Evo engine, I would prob still have the VR4.

I've always loved 99 VR-4, and I love the IX.
They are both capable of making an absurb ammount of power, but it's cheaper for the IX and they're more reliable.
I would NEVER get rid of that 99 VR-4 though. Tough call, see if you can't afford them both.
ASK FOR A RAISE!

Evo will help you more in the long run. 4 door for the kids or even just to hang with friends..more cosier i mean. And like mostly everyone has been saying...you still get a lot of head turns when you are cruising it

I really liked my VR4 wish I didn't have to get rid of it a few years ago. I would have kept it and and gotten an Evo as well.
Keep it and get an Evo.
EVO fun to drive around town and track
VR4 much nicer interior and long distance driver
