You'll need to set up your tactrix cable as a VCP (Virtual Com Port) as well as a USB device to get the Scan Tech Software to work. Then in the settings you'll need to select the Jeff Protocol. Ive been using Scan Tech for quite some time. Great Program.

this happened to me last month and the culprit was the crank sensor.

Friendly conversation; no threats or demands works best. Under state law they likely have a 90-day warranty anyway.

Sounds like you got a good case to have them replace the sensor. Have them check the connector and harness while their at it to make sure its ok. I would have them pull the cover and check to make sure the front seal wasnt also damaged when the pulley walked out. or the timing belt.

If its a reputable shop, they should cover it all. After all they are the ones that never torqued the crank pulley retaining bolt properly.

If it's in the line of the work they performed then I'd say yes, just let them know what happened.
