I have had two EVOs, between them 60K miles and about 60 launches. Both were driven hard each day. Neither every had a problem and both clutches were fine.

If you have to be convinced to buy an evo, you shouldn't buy an evo, at least that's my take on it.

i personally went an test drove a Brand New STI and a Brand new Evo IX on the same day!
to me the Subie was too laggy,i mean it had power, but i didnt like the throttle response on it at all
When i drove the Evo,and saw how fast the turbo spooled i was Sold!
Also the subie dealer out here sucks! my friend has an STI and his 4th gear is grinding,he took it in,and they wont warranty it,his car has 15K on it,they said he raced it and abused it,so ya!

I've driven a few Evo 8's and an 05 Sti. I am not bias, because I love both cars yet I do not own either one. Anyways, Sti imo is a better dd all around car. I see the Evo as the one with more potential. If you were to be keeping both cars stock though, I would definitely choose the Sti. This is in comparison with the Evo 8, I haven't driven the 9's or MR's. But, I don't like the MR 6spd trannies, thats a whole different story.

I hope he drove both sti and evo and bought the one he liked the most. Both are awesome cars, and you can't go wrong with either 1 of them.

Thats how I feel, which is why if I had an STI I wouldn't go through the trouble of selling it and buying an evo.

I've gotten a chance to drive both before i bought...not just at dealers either, I drove a friends modded evo 8, and a stock 9 at the dealer. I am def. happy with my STi, I don't regret buying it for one second...however the goal of this thread for me was to get some insight from evo owners as I look at my mod path in the future.

One of the main reasons I didn't get the evo was because I was dead set on the IX and when i was shopping it was right around when east coast dealers were getting their first shipments...I got a 'too good to be true' deal on my STi, which in the end swayed my decision (till that point i had been 50/50)
