Evo Weigh Day article... interesting!
I don't know if this has been posted here before, but I don't think it was as I searched for it on the forums to be sure and didn't find it. Anyway, I just happen to stumble upon this article where they weighed each Evo IX:
http://www.vorshlag.com/tech_evoweights.php
They weighed each model (except the RS)... GSR, SE, MR and MR SE and compare Mitsubishi's claimed weight along with their results (noting the amount of fuel in the car), then they weigh the cars again without the mats, spare tire and jack. They also provide the car's weight at each corner.
Sorry if it's a repost, but I searched for it.

"The 6-spd's gearing advantage is nonexistent, so avoid the more costly MR and MR-SE if you are shopping simply for the best performance and class competitiveness in an EVO."
He must not ever accelerate from 4th gear on the highway. That's where the MR's extra gear makes a big difference.
Anyway, thanks for sharing!

On the VIII 5 sp, the first four gears are longer then the IX 5-sp or the 6-sp.

I think I heard that somewhere before also that the first four gears are the same on the IX 5 speed vs 6 speed. The 6 speed is a lot better geared than the VIII 5 speed for acceleration on the roll, though.

I don't really see why the GSR-SE should be 31lbs lighter than the normal GSR.
It has lighter wheels, aluminum roof.
But is also has HID's which are heavier than stock.
So where is the other weight from?

Code:
Each Total Rims 2.755 11.02 Roof 8.818 HID -3 -6 Total 13.838

^ Well, the SE doesn't come with Bilsteins.
Besides, Mitsubishi's factory claims put the two models 11 pounds apart, so you can go off of that if you want. Also, their actual recorded weights included gas, and I'm sure that they were *estimating* how much fuel was in there, so the amount that they subtracted to estimate the weight without fuel was probably a ball park figure based on our inaccurate fuel gauge.

Context is a motherfcker and likely to bais of all misinformation.
silverblacksrt4 - No you don't, the RS is lighter.

Definitely... but I wonder where they got Mitsubishi's published curb weights for the SE and MR SE from, since I've never seen official numbers. But I would've thought the official difference in weight between a GSR and SE would've been more than 11 pounds... though the actual weighing done by the website seems to indicate that.
