JUN 272's
turbo
Full Race Twinscroll GT35R turbo kit
Aquamist HFS-5
Suspension
Custom Valved Ohlins Coilovers

Buschur Racing AEM EMS FULL Kit? or stock ECU flashing or other? I want to be able to quickly switch between maps for 91 and 100 octane. Is there a unit that will plug in to the AEM similar to the Cobb Accessport to allow me to switch maps without having to have a laptop hooked up in the car at all times?
AEM all-in-one wideband or plug in for AEM EMS if I go that route? or other?
Water/Methanol injection? what brand? safety features?
Coilover brand for street setup?

This is the wish list.
Cams aren't really going to make a huge difference on a build as extensive as the one you're undertaking. 264/272/280 from virtually any cam manufacturer like Jun/HKS/Crower/Piper/GSC/etc... will work and be virtually indistinguishable amongst the myriad of other components. The main determinants will be your tolerance for idle characteristics and desired power band.

Have you considered the Tilton or Carbonetics clutches?

If you're using an EMS, you should probably opt to go speed density and use boost compensation tuning methods. In any event, you'll probably choose to use a PWM solenoid rather than a manual boost controller, particularly if you want to have multiple maps to switch between.

It sounds like you're not really decided on your tuning strategy though, as you're considering ECULink, Accessport, or the AEM EMS. With ECULink, AEM EMS, and piggybacks like the MAFT and APEXi SAFC, it's all a choice of how much control you really want. There's no substitute for a fully programmable engine management system like the AEM EMS, but it is also the highest cost, and I'm not just talking about money. You'll have to invest considerable time and effort into tuning it properly and that is after you've familiarized yourself with the software and process of tuning the car. It's a hassle, and though some might downplay the difficulty, it is not a trivial thing to dial in a car with a PEMS.

IMO, water/meth is for folks who are looking to extract the last bit of HP from their turbo setup. Either they don't want to spend the cash for race gas and an extra map, they have an overworked turbo (i.e. working outside it's optimal compressor efficiencies), or they really want to get the top numbers out of their car and don't care what the consequences are (additional complexity increases risk).

Coilovers aren't needed for a street setup, but if you're determined to replace the stock dampers and springs, expect to pay handsomely as nothing for less than 1500 will come close to the broad performance of the stock suspension. You could do springs, adjustable top hats, and suspension bushings including the bump steer correction to acheive (or perhaps improve upon) much of the performance gains found on coilovers at a more affordable cost.

As I read through many of these planned setups, I'm thinking that my ideal car would have reliability as the first priority. I would acheive this through simplicity and using a minimal amount of modifications. I'm also aware that my own car hasn't always followed this guideline and I need to re-examine my own setup.

In January I'm picking up an 06 SE from a friend that has:

ETS intercooler
ETS lower IC piping
ETS Intake
Forge Diverter
Meth Injection
Cos 272 Cams
Head studs
Wideband O2
Megan down pipe
Buschur test pipe
Magna flow muffler

Flash tuned and putting down a little over 400whp and 460 ftlbs torque @ 30psi.

I plan on getting the ETS upper IC pipe kit and mini battery and call it a day power wise. I will need to replace the clutch eventually as it is stock. He does not and has not launched the car and he said that he doesn't even go hard in first until the end of the gear to prevent wear on the clutch. I plan on getting an exedy clutch and then working on the suspension setup as it is stock. Probably go with a decent set of coilovers, but nothing super expensive. That will pretty much put the car where I want it to be performance wise. There are always little things here and there to add.

Get coilovers, strut and sway, wheels, exhaust, cai, and tune for the Porsche, and if I had somewhere at the track to keep them another set of wheels with R-compounds on em. And I'd be happy with that... Which would cost as much as Evo8Emperor's list

500whp on pump with minimal lag. Ported Head, 2.3RR (AMS), HTA35R w/Twin Scroll Hotside and Full Race Twin Scroll Mani, and vertical flow intercooler for better performance. Possible meth kit. Don't know if this would work but sounds great.

I'm enjoying learning the performance dynamics of the car as it sits now: bone stock. All I've really done is a good alignment and sticky RE-01Rs.

In a few years I'll do the common beginner bolt on kit:

-> TBE
-> MBC
-> Custom Flash (probably Atlantic Motorsports)
-> Brake Pads

I got the mod bug out of me with my last car anyway (SE-R).

I'm currently stock. As soon as I sell my Supra, I will probably start down this road:

Time Attack Evo
AMS 2.3RR shortblock
AMS ported/built head
Jun 272 cams
AMS VSR intake manifold and 75mm throttlebody
ETS 3.5" turbo back exhaust with test pipe
880cc injectors
Buschur Racing double pumper fuel system
Buschur Racing or AMS fuel rail
Buschur Racing mini battery kit
Buschur Racing coil on plug ignition
Full Race 3076 twin scroll kit (includes VFMIC, IC piping, tubular manifold, Tial blow off valve, two Tial wastegates, etc.)
CBRD Radiator
Bushwacker transmission build
Exedy Heavy Duty Twin Plate clutch
Megan Race coilovers (track version)
18" Rims (Have not decided brand yet)
AEM EMS or Ecuflash with stock ECU (not decided yet)
Air filter and intake (undecided)
Electronic/Manual boost controller (not decided yet)
Meth/H2O kit (not decided yet)

I'm sure things will change as I go along, but this is the wish list. I know that the enginge/turbo setup is very $$$$$$, but I want everything to be overbuilt and not pushed to the limit. I'm sure there are major faults with this setup, but thats what the forum is for, to point out the problems before you spend the money.
