Someone shot my car
Just noticed this a few hours ago. I'm almost certain this is the result of a very potent BB gun, as the metal in the a-pillar is some of the strongest in the entire car. I can't imagine what else could have done this. It's already rusting up a bit, so this may have happened earlier in the week. I noticed today because the paint in that region looked dirty and proceeded to fall off when I tried rubbing it.
The weird thing is that one of the windows of my mom's car was shattered by something during the summer. As there was no rock nearby, we chalked it up to intense heat/sunlight. Now I'm not sure it wasn't a BB gun as well. By the looks of it, they were aiming for my window too. I can't imagine anyone who would have a reason to shoot at our cars, but we do live on a busy street, so I'm hoping it's a random incident. I just had a police officer over to file a report in case it happens again.
Anyone have any clue how hard this would be to touch up?

You'd be surprised how powerful some of these air rifles are. There are some top shelf models that can put down large game......
Its luck they hit your A-Pillar, depending on how you view it. If they hit the window, a new pane of glass would actually be an easier fix.
I would remove the rust with some sandpaper, fill that up with a tad of bondo, sand it down and get some color match spray paint. Tape off the area, about 4-5" with the blemish in the middle, sand it down and spray a few good coats on it with the spray can.
