JDM Pie Cut manifold

Does anyone have a clear pic of a pie cut style manifold?

I think they look sick and I need a new background for my desktop

I am not sure on that one. I have heard people calling it "JDM pie cut". Its not true JDM its more of a technique of making tubing bend without using a mandrel.

Compression bends is what you're talking about. They're actually horrible for performance as they make things turbulent.

JDM pie cut.....oh man.

I think he is refering to bends made by multiple welds and without using a mandrel. Its a popular JDM style.

You take a straight section of pipe, and cut multiple wedges or "pie cuts" out of it, and then weld it back together. It's popular as you can make custom bends on the cheap.

Yea JDM pie cut. Its a style/technique of welding a contour within a soild pipe.

There is no bending involved. I know what I am talking about just looking for a pic

Is this the kinda stuff your talking about? I've always wondered what the method behind the madness was. Either way, it looks awesome.

I think I know what you're talking about, but I don't know of any Japanese companies that make exhaust manifolds like that.

There are, however, a couple American companies that do something close to what you are talking about...

the reason people did this is not for performance, as it is NOT as good as a smooth bent tube

however, the reason it can be beneficial is that you can make a tighter bend and it can be more complex...if you tried to bend a tube to some of the tight angles pie cuts can accomplish the tubing would "kink" (for lack of a better word)

also, one of the pics above shows titanium tubing, which is not a metal that bends easily due to how brittle it can be...so in that instance it would almost be necessary
