Spin out!
Short version: I supn out in the rain acting stupid. No major damage just my pride and some curb rash on the rim's and lip.
I woke up later than expected this morining. I went out to the garage and threw on my R-compound tires and got ready to go to an Auto-X event.
It was raining and I never have driven with these tires in the rain. (yokohama AO48's) On the way to the event there is this long hair pin turn (2 lanes in each direction). So I push it pretty hard a give the steering wheel a few yanks to see where the limit is on the tires.
On the third time the back end just whips out, I tried to stay on the gas and conter-steer, but it did not work out. I did a 360* and slid the drivers side right into a curb.
Not much damage thank goodness, I scuffed and popped some clips on drivers side front lip (SE lip), and under tray. Just a little bit of curb rash on the drivers side rims. I half expected the rims to be bent, I'm glad there fine. and I need to get an alignment. The car drives straight, it is not pulling left or right, no vibrations, The only thing is the steering wheel is not centered. It is about a 1/8 to 1/4 inch off.
I am kicking my self in the *** because I could have checked out how the tires grip at the event, and not on the road where there are other drivers and curbs.
So remember slow it down in the rain. I know I will.

I went through this a few weeks ago but wasn't so lucky...
Hit a parked car.
His damage: $700
My new bumper: $700
I paid out of pocket because insurance surcharge would have amounted to $3000+
Canceled my plans for an Exedy Twin real fast.
To make things worse, I was on my way to work a couple days later, doing 70 in a 55... my radar detector started going nuts so I slowed to about 60. A state trooper moved into my lane and pulled me over... he proceeded to give me a ticket on which he circled both "radar" and "estimated"... the total? $350 for allegedly doing 90+ in a 55. Really, really pissed me off and made me want to install a brake light cut off switch, because clearly he didn't clock me high enough, saw me hit the brakes, and "estimated" an insane speed

Off topic: When that usually happens to me, I feather the ebrake instead of hitting the brakes. 2 speeding tickets in the evo going 70 in a 60 and 4 noise violations, 5 warnings..
OP: Glad everyone was ok, one thing I learned with the evo is you have to respect it in the rain, even if you have blizzaks

I did something similar in my Mirage. Yokohama Parada Spec-2 in the SNOW. Yep.. instead, I understeered into a curb. About the same damage you had. Scuffed up rim and I busted the right side of my front lip. Nothing bent though.
I never knew what an Evo felt like in the rain until a few weeks ago. Fun, but despite the AWD, you still NEED to be careful. I treat it like it's RWD in the rain/snow, and like it's FWD in dry.

I have been wanting to get out in the rain and act like an idiot getting the rear out. But just can't bring myself to driving my Evo in the rain.
The wrecking into things you guys posted reminded me of how stupid my ideal of fun would or could be. lol

Same kinda thing happend to be the other night I was getting on an on ramp to the freeway was almost completely straight gave her some gas in 2nd to start accelerating rear end kicks out almost 90 degrees let off and tried to get it back no luck and just did a power slide off the road. Only damage was i hit a plastic road maker and it scratched up the drivers side side skirt and wheels got a little muddy.

Doing this on the road is completely unsafe, irresponsible and you shouldnt do it. This is the reason why people kill other people from doing dumb $hit on the roads. Enough with the lecture. When in the rain dont leave the car on tarmac, put it in snow mode
