Why is my 5th gear grinding on my new car?!?

Whats up guys,
I just bought my new evo a couple of months ago and the problem started at around 2500 miles. It used to grind going into 5th gear at around 5000 rpm's, but now its doing it at like 2500 so I gotta let it rev down all the way before I shift.. really annoying. What do you guys think the problem could be? and if I use the manufactures warranty do they charge a deductable? Thanks

syncro is bad. Will be covered under warranty providing that you don't have an aftermarket clutch or the output shaft isn't bent.

does it grind even wen u put the clutch all the way to the floor and put 5th in verrry gently. mean not like throwing into 5th. try that and see if it still grinds. bc i remember this happen to me on my old evo. wen i put it into 5th fast. it would grind if i did slow it wouldnt!

Ya it grinds no matter what and it sucks because it does it even at low rpm's now. The only thing I'm worried about is if the manufactures warranty will be void with my TBE. I'm also wondering if I'll have to pay a deductable for the man. warranty

with TBE it shoulnt be void. Ask couple of evo folks in your area which dealer is the best to go to.

If you are worried that your TBE will void your warranty then put your stock exhaust back on then take your car to the dealership. This will alleviate any concerns you have. I'll have to do the same thing because my fifth gear also grinds except when I shift slowly and at low rpms.

mine does because I got the street act clutch, and a 10lbs flywheel. so what I is double clutch to 5th and that lets it go smooth...but in your case, just go and change the exhaust and take it in. and don't let them talk you in to admitting that you had an exhaust because they may be jerks and void it.

i really do think the tbe does void warrenty. so if i were u just throw the stocker on if u still have it only takes 30 mins if u haave all the right tools laying out for it. makes it worth it so u dont have to pay for wat ur problem is bc these days labor is crazzyyy!!

Thats what I was thinking. Do they make you pay a deductable for the manufacture's warranty though?
