Want to see if someone can help me here. I'm installing new stainless steel braided brake lines. Got the two front on easily. But, I'm having a really hard time removing one of the bolts from both of the back lines. See pic...



I've used WD40 to loosen it and a flare nut wrench (which should have worked for this) and it just stripped the bolt. I've tried pliers and I can't break it loose.

Anyone have any ideas how to loosen this bolt? Only thing I can think of at this point is a set of locking pliers (which I would have to go buy which isn't a big deal if it helps me finish this damn job).

PB blaster! Spray PB Blaster on it and let it soak. Then spray it and tap it with a ball peen hammer, repeating this several times. Then try loosening it again.

If you're going to use a plier, try to find one with teeth that point backwards to bite into the nut.

did you try a can of compressed air? turn it upside down and it will freeze it just a little and it may shrink just enough to loosen up. make sure you just do only the hard line end and not the other end. good luck....

Thanks for the suggestions. I'll try PB Blaster and maybe the compressed air tomorrow. Definitely going to get some locking pliers and the PB Blaster and see if that will do it.

Keep the suggestions coming if anyone else has any other thoughts on how to get this damn bolt loose!

Heat it and dont use a braked bar or anything that will brake it. If you brake it then you will have to put a new fitting on and reflere the line. I am sorry I couldn't spell "reflere". Make sure you use the correct size brakeline wrench.

I agree.
If none of your BLASTERS worked. Time to break out the mini torch.
Make sure to not go too hot and take the reservoir cap off while heating it.

try heat LAST!!! once the metal expands and you dont get it off, it is that much MORE stuck... had that experience with rear LCA's on a hatch... rusted solid...

PB blaster works wonders.... try to get it to creep into cracks so it soaks into the rust and breaks it up... Do MANY sprays of it, soak it for a few hours, then it should come right off.... Spray ever 20 mins or so for a few hours, give it a few taps, use vice pliers with gripping threads... then its off..
