4th gear in the EVO typically puts you at 3500 RPM depending on driving speed, and we all know what happens when you WOT at that RPM range..!!!
But then I ran with a GST Eclipse, and only had him by MAYBE a car length from a dead stop to 60 ish..
NO launch mind you, cuz all these rubbernecks roasting the clutches is fricken SCARING ME..
EVO performs different each time...
Sometimes she feels a lttle pokey, and other times feels fast as hell..
I don't get it..

Of course, most people don't view the M3 and S4 as compact cars. Take a seat in them (especially the rear). They all have similar space.

Hmm...makes me wish I subscribed to SCC instead of EC!
To me personnaly, this kind of comparison makes great sense to me. I realize that the level of trim of the other cars is certainly on the highline side when compared to the EVO, but performance-wise these cars all fall into a similar category. Sort of like the tough kid from the wrong side of the tracks going up against a group of preppy-*** snobs. I know who I am cheering for!!
Surely some kind SCC subscriber can scan the article for us. If not, maybe just a general summary, and leave the details for us to read when it hits the newstands!

To me those are EXACTLY the kind of comparisons I look for - I buy my cars by how much fun I have driving them and generally care very little about the make, target audience, what anyone else thinks... if it's within my budget it's fair game.
Before I bought the Evo VI RS-2 (Europe) I was looking at Imprezas, M3 Convertibles, Corvette convertibles, 996s, 993 turbos, M5, Ferrari 355, various Lotus and TVRs, RX7, Audi RS-2 - even a BMW 850 (which after a short test-drive I finally knew exactly what the opposite was of what I was looking for) and more.
IMHO if it's a sporty car it should be pitted against all others.... but Im probably just strange. It certainly confused the sales guys and they didn't always believe I was seriously looking for a car when I listed which I was interested in...

911 was fastest around the track followed by Evo then M3 then S4.
Evo was 1/2 second slower in the 1/4 than last months because of the 90 degree heat 1/4 in 14 sec at 97.7 mph.
Vishnu Stage0 Evo with Turboback was tested separately and faster than the 911 around the track, it did 1/4 in 13.1 at 106 mph.
Man I bought my SCC a week ago at Border's...where you guys live?
