am i getting screwed over on a new alternator?

went to my friends shop "hook it up performance" in Maryland and thier telling me a new alternator is $350 and its going to be 3 hours of labor due to having to move the fuel rail and power steering pump etc. and its $80 an hour

comes out to be like $545 total. this ****ing blows. right before i was about to buy cams

Why dont you go to DCEvoClub.com and check the vendors there to see if you can get a better price. That labor is pretty steep. I see you already went to AMS for your tune, try them.

ya, how you havn't worked out a side deal wiht your friend to do it at his/your house and just pay him is beyond me. Have it towed out of there, tell your friend to come over and you will just pay him 40 an hour or something. Then when he is doing it watch him and try to learn what you can. That way you can do it next time or something like that. Working on your own car is always better then having a shop do it.

3 hours sounds resonable. But the removing fuel rail and powersteering is bogus.
