For me the problem is comfort, and the money factor. At the end of the day, my jeep liberty is infinitely more comfortable on long trips due to the seats, and the fact that it's not loud, and it doesn't feel like it's going to snap in half when i hit a bump.

the other fact is that if i sold the evo, i would no longer be tempted to call buschur, ams, or whoever else to talk about costs for doing a stroker or new turbo and dumping more into it....half of me views it as the dumbest "investment" ever, and the other half says "you only live once - might as well enjoy it."

that being said, i'd be depressed as hell to get rid of it, even though I probably should.

Hey i feel ya man im only 20 and im very lucky to own an evo but sometimes i feel like, that was the dumbest thing i ever did was buy an evo, it is not exactly what you call comfortable , sucks on gas , and every time you mod it you keep wanting more . * i should have gone with a pirus or something* but then again it is one bad *** 4 door salon

Noticing that you and the thread originator are located in Utah I think underscores a geographic element to the issue of unwanted attention, which is unfortunate. Every time someone mentions their irritation for unwanted attention I look where they are located, and invariably they are not in locations where there is a huge car culture. I live in the heart of Los Angeles and see many of the same modified civics, Neons, etc on the road every day. I can't recall having anyone rev on me--although i've only had my Evo for 13 months. Actually the only drivers that have tried to pick a race with me have been in the last few months since the 335i came out. Its a sad fact of life, that if you own something that not everyone else has compounded by living in a smaller urban or rural community, your chance increases for vandalism and young wippersnappers trying to pick races. Just some thoughts at the end of my workday.

It gets old relatively quick!
Where are you located that you have the paparazzi version of ricers wanting to mess w/ you?

(If you don't mind me asking)

When I owned my Evo I was young. It's a car... I don't see the issue. I never got my car egged or anything just alot of "older" people give me a hard time for having something nice. I always thought that was funny!

It has been 4 sad years without my Evo...I went from that to a 96 Ford Escort..to a 96 BMW 5 series..now I just ordered a 2011 BMW M3...Evo was a great car and I still have a lot of fond memories driving it...Everytime I have seen an Evo drive past, I just smiled and wished I hadnt sold it..but a means to an end...been saving up for a while....Living in Germany now....got a good deal..

Its all about the wing. I have a RS and nobody pays me much attention unless im hauling ***. I tried the wing out for 2 weeks and it was like a whole other car. I had more ricers rev and try to catch up to me then in the prev year of owning. i even caught the attention of a bunch of big jacked up trucks for some reason. I took it off and it was back to normal. I wont be going back to that. I have 2 kids and car seats in back and dont race around the streets, I rty to keep it at the track.

This.

I'm 33...have 2 kids. You're as young as you want to feel. Unless you have a job where you have to drive clients around (And in that case a sedan any smaller then a GS is just stupid...you should be looking into SUV's) then selling the car because of what other people think is pretty stupid.....IMO.

Your life, only you know whats best for you. I could care less what people who don't know me think of me. I have tatoo's, ride a bike, work in IT, dress in jeans and TShirt every day and my wife is asian and I'm black.....I'm a walking contridiction. LOL.

^^^^^ lol great post!

I see you ordered a new m3 though, so your deff back on track in the right direction. My next car will hopefully be an e9x m3 as well. I will NOT be getting rid of the Evo though. Having a decent one will separate yourself from the ricers who will eventually destroy evos.

i agree with your and the other's sentiments.

I find though, as you get older, especially once you're married and have kids, so you cant really prowl for women anymore, that you just dont care anymore what you look like to others. Unless your job relies on your image in some capacity.

yeah that is one thing that slightly bothers me, is these snide looks, or snickers from some honda guy's in their cars. I always give respect where respect is due. dont make fun of my car bc it has a wing, when it will mop the floor with your fail wheel drive sub 100 mph trapping bucket.

I know my evo is ugly. But it's nothing to be making fun of if it's as capable as it is.

I got sick of compromises, I got sick of luxury cars trying to be performance, or performance cars weighed down with way too much heavy luxury.

It took me a long time to come to the EVO, i used to laugh quietly at it, it always reminded me a of a samurai helmet, when looked at from the front.

After owning 10 different performance cars, in consecutive order, I finally came to develop a passion for driving, the raw inputs of driving.

Not just looking good, or sounding good, but really just feedback from a well balanced and thoroughly competent car.

The EVO was amazing. So direct, so unforgiving *actually pretty forgiving in many ways, but raw none the less,, the crappy interior became a thing of beauty in light of how little care it seems was put into it, because what does it matter? You cannot possibly even notice the interior when you're driving the evo at the limit. All i care about is whether or not the interior is as light as it can be without pulling off panels.

I love my evo. It is a true driver's car, and although I have never driven a porsche turbo or ferrari, I think for the dollar, the evo is the best driver's car out there.

I am in the youngin category as well, being only 26, and bought my Evo when I was 21, for the first few years I got lots of attention from people and the cops, but lately I haven't gotten much attention from many people. All in the way that you drive it I have come to realize. and for the people that come up and rev and try to race obviously are either stupid or just don't know what is next to them, either way I don't give in to there antics as it draws unneeded attention.

as far as the comfort deal, that is why I am lookin towards an 2011 MR-T, still all the performance, just a bit more comfort, and still an Evo, plus the wife will be able to drive it if need be, not that I will let her much lol. I love my VIII wish i didn't have to get rid of it to get a new one but at the moment won't be able to keep both being that I have also a 2009 F-150 Lariat that is still being payed for. but we will see I love driving the thing, and the ability to just put my foot in it a little and get moving in a hurry, and the pretty much point and shoot accuracy of steering and suspension. gotta really love the Evos.

Those new M3's are gorgeous though, getting the Sedan I assume? saw a few of those while I was in Spain for my deployment. Good luck to ya.

The only time I ever got revved at was when I first got the Evo and I had a regular neon with 4 kids in the cars smiling and giving me the thumbs up.

Doing anything because of what other people think will only lead to your unhappiness. This is true at any stage in life. Some people just bring dark clouds no matter what you do for them or with them. If you make yourself happy and do what you want despite the protests of others, then at least one of you is happy.
