There really isn't anything that I can that hasnt been said already about the school issue. Like everyone else has said, that is the most important thing. Cars will always be around. You might graduate university, find a fantastic job, and then there might be a car out that you will want even more.

About what car you should get. Seriously, do what I did. I was like any tuner. Throwing everything away at making my car just that much better. The very best thing for you to do is find a car that you will just drive and forget about. Get something that you will not even want to modify in any way. You will save so much money its silly. More than likely, a car like that will get you fantastic gas mileage which is another plus. For instance, I have a 2006 Civic right now. Wouldn't even be worth it for me to put any money in it, which is how I like it. I know a nice car for me is right around the corner no that I have my degree and a good career.

You'd definitely be doing the right thing. You can always buy a nice one back after college. What you should be re-thinking is that film & production degree though...

Well I dont want to necessarily do just film as in hollywood films. Im looking more along the lines of being able to go out do the camera work for say a tv show and then be able to go back and edit it.

definitley buy something reliable. It took 5 years for me to get a bachelor's degree due to having to work part time while in school. I couldn't do the average 15-17 credits per semester. A GSX will not last you 4-5 years. No Way!

Get a civic, corolla, or rsx if you want something sporty. Make sure you get a 4 cylinder unless you are living/working on or close to campus. Money will be tight, and so will your gas funds. A Civic Si or RSX can be sporty and reliable if not overly modded any more then basic intake/exhaust bolt ons. 7th gen civics can be found for a good bargain price.

I would just leave the car fully stock though. Modded cars just aren't that cool once they get older and newer generations come out. As you get older, not many people will think it's cool anymore to have a loud car, especially some girls you may date. You can tell some even feel embarrassed to be in your car. I went back to a stock exhaust during my junior year of college just for this reason.

Once you graduate and get a real career, get the current model EVO

Remember for the future too to have your kids take all the AP classes they can and everything else they can to speed along their college. I'm 21 with a BS in Psychology and now I drive a Porsche College wasn't hard, but High School was a *****... And I missed out on the whole college party experience trying to hurry it all up... But hey, got done early thanks to my parents making me take AP classes etc in High School.

Otherwise for now you're making the right decision if you feel it is the ONLY way to go. I'd try what I could to keep the Evo though.

I'd also like to add:

That's all... If anyone ever says anything like SoundBoy just said, completely ignore them. Anytime anyone cuts down your dreams, it usually means you'll achieve them with ease, its been the case for me in about every aspect of life thus far.

not too rain on your parade or anything...I went to college...in fact I have two degrees...and I don't even work in my degree...a lot of times especially these days exeprience is all that matters...its not what you know its who you know that paves your future...even if you do get a degree in film...be prepared to make around 30K a year...Look...I'm not saying don't get an education...but be prepared to be disappoined once you do and you can't get a descent job out there...If I were you I would look into a trade somewhere...since they pay more and you get better benefits...just my two cents...AND you can keep your eVo...

"College First" is an old mantra that doesn't really apply anymore. Its the same as the "pick a job and stay in it forever" mode of thinking. Our society doesn't work like that anymore... See if you can get an internship at a local news station, helping out, pays NOTHING but gets you experience. Experience>degree in most cases. Film sounds like its going to be part of the "most cases"
I wouldn't spend 60k on school right away, see if you can get some work in the field, if you like it, take the schooling you need to continue you know? 60k on school for a job that pays 30k if you can find work? Unless you do community college of course, it should be cheaper that way. Also, you should be able to take JUST the film editing classes, it won't get you a degree, but you will have the knowledge to get work, and work your way from there.

Let me chime in on school!! Employers are getting more and more strict IMO. Many not only want a degree they want experience too Which sucks!! My advice for the OP is follow your dreams what type of job will make you happy and go for it! Make a plan and follow it!
