Might sell my Evo :( What do you think?
So I've had my car for a little over a year and absolutely LOVE this car. The only problem is..... I think its time for me to go to college. I'm 20 years old, still living at home, but work full time to pay for the car and insurance and all the extras that go along with the car.
I feel like I'm stuck in a dead end job and with just a high school diploma I don't feel like I can get any further in life. Now the only reason I have this job is because of the car. If I were to sell the car I could just leave and go to college full time using student loans. After 2 years of not knowing what I want to be in my life I think I have figured it out. I'm looking at getting a Bachelors in Film & Production.
As much as I love this car I'm starting to think its time to let it go and move on with my life.
Im just looking for some opinions. I'm also thinking about getting a 2nd Gen GSX to replace the Evo but have alot of friends saying that would be a bad idea for reliability issues.

College education is much more important than any car. That being said, make sure your ready to commit to something and be ready to struggle to get the career you want.
Evos can be bought later in life, dont let material items get in the way of dreams.

have your financial status be set before buying things you can't afford. I bought a house, immediately after that I got the evo. Double wammy in my case, but I have a good paying job, which is the difference. Don't be at a dead end job, it's going to make your long term outlook go bad. Work on yourself, then you can work on the evo later in life.

Going to school is the smart thing to do. One thing you could consider is going to a local community college for 2 years and then transferring into a school of your choice. It may be cheap enough and flexible enough for you to keep your car. I did not do this but I do know many people who did and in the end they still got their degrees from a good school.

You could sell the IX and get an VIII if that would be more affordable for you. I have to agree that college is more important than a car. I was in the same boat as you and it sucks. I was lucky that i was able to get my car paid off before i started school (again) at 22. Also my Dads a professor, so i only pay 600-700 dollars a semester .
Make sure Film is what you want to do though cause it sucks going to college and being a Freshman at 22. The girls like you a little better cause they think your more mature, but your the oldest person in most of your classes and when your 22 you really dont wanna date a 18 yo girl (if your looking for a relationship with no drama) .

Well I would def say that going to school is more important than any car, but you can do what I'm doing and take out living expense loans to pay for the car(unless you don't want a huge loan to pay for after you graduate).

Definitely make the college choice. The loss of the car can be made up for with the 18yr old girlfriends. In the right position, you'll forget all about it. Make sure you're going to school not only for something you enjoy, but also something that has some decent job prospects. The film industry is not exactly growing at a phenomenal rate, nor is it a guarantee you'll get a decent job. You don't want to invest 4 yrs and still be in a dead end job.

I'd forget about a GSX and get something very reliable. I know this doesn't sound like the most appetizing solution, but it'll keep you from piping money into it.
Good luck!
