apex'i filters have been tested and proven to outperform and outfilter (??) a bunch of other brands such as hks, k&n, blitz ect... I don't have the link of the test anymore sorry..

and how you get there...
to prevent to getting hot air there is important too. Here is two popular solutions: heatshield or box. The factory air box is good untill certain amount whp. Only with dropp in will feed you easy 350 whp.That is why so popular.
Over that whp getting more expensive.
I'm not a fan for the heatshield at all. Its kind of temporary.

hks is good, not that it really matters. you can go with a simple aftermarket drop in air filter and it will improve just as much as a conical filter. some believe (by some i mean dynocomp in scottsdale az) that the conical filter will actually decrease performance due to the hot air taken in from under the hood as opposed to cool air directed in from the front of the car. i opted to go with an hks which i think sounds great and looks good. you wont need a retune for an air filter, it simply doesnt add enough power(maybe 1 hp, usually nothing) or air flow for you to adjust the timing and A/F ratio.

When I first bought my IX I installed a apexi tb and hks rs intake. When I dynoed the car before the tune it was making 310whp, and I drove the car before that without a tune for a long while with no problems.

If you already have a cone filter just get the cheapest intake pipe you can find (Dejon's is pretty cheap at about $130).
I'm personally running Buschur's intake pipe and dry-flow cone filter and have no complaints, but I will say it is over-priced IMO. The one thing I really like about the Buschur though is I know it has been dyno-tested and proven before being sold to customers.

I made 321hp/322tq with the stock intake box and a drop-in filter.The power can be made without a fancy intake. Skip it for now like Im doing.Heck, 50% of the people out there with intakes end up changing their setup anyway.
