No the car hasn't been running. I've been busy elsewhere. Now I'm about to put the engine back in and would like to pull apart the transfer case while I can get to it easily.

Bump for a 2 year old thread. Can I pull apart my T-Case and look at the clutches and determine, "Yes indeed that is ****ed, sir." Or do I have to put it in my car and wait for it to make strange noises? Anyone have pics of bad clutches? I'm assuming some of the guys who try to drift their EVOs have similar issues.

I am not looking to get it sorted out by the towing company, I just didn't wanna start a new thread. I just wanna know what to look for when I pull the TC.
If the TC was only attached with gears there wouldn't be any slip between the front and rears. There are clutches, or viscous coupling whatever, in the TC.
Who knows what they look like when they're burnt up, cause I've never seen good ones.
