So I just started getting a P401 and it has come back now about 3 times after clearing the code. It takes about a week between occurances.

I checked to make sure all the lines were still plugged in as well. I have 62K miles on my car and am wondering if anyone has had to replace theirs?

Also, how can I tell if it's the valve or the solenoid that is tripping the CEL?

The valve is $95ish :-/

 

I am going to try and take it off and clean it this weekend prior to buying a new one...just trying to be prepared.

 

Did you tried cleaning the intake manifold using seafoam. Maybe one of those ports is clogged up.

 

An egr valve isnt too expensive. OEM is 90ish but Napa has them for around half of that. I would usually go oem, but you can't really mess up an egr valve.

 

Thanks for the info on Napa. I haven't gotten a chance to clean it yet. Don't know if I can this weekend like planned.

I may just keep clearing the code and do it when I have access to a heated garage.
