I just got a policy from State Farm and pay 1700 (for the EVO only) a year, but that is also for 100k, 300k, 100k coverage and 1000 dollar deductible.
That is also in CA and I am 25.
It also depends on if you have a multi-policy discount or not. I get a break because I own a home and have another car on the policy as well.

To their credit, I've called three times with each time the CS rep helping as much as possible to no avail. They're very helpful and are trying the best they can, but they said the Evo got new "ratings" and there's nothing else they can do. The last CS rep said even her "senior rep" said that's the best it is. Absolutely crazy. It must be insane for someone with a small blemish on their record to insure this car! USAA did give me tips when shopping for insurance though....kinda funny.
Currently shopping around to see if I can get better rates...and making sure those rates don't gradually increase like someone said happens with Progressive. Wife says if not...trade in the Evo....the Evo I got June 2011! Yeah right....

USAA is awesome. Best service and customer support. BUT, my evo went from $1100/yr to $2400/yr. AND I have NO tickets, accidents, violations, etc. I have Multi-policy, home, personal property, multi-vehicle, married and 33.

If I were to speculate, I would also say the rates have changed when the insurance companies get updated info probably because Evo's are getting cheaper for inexperienced drivers (teenagers) who like to wreck them. Sorry to call you guys out but the truth hurts... I know of a few for starters so I'm not just blowing smoke, so I apologize for the responsible teens.

My new policy with travelers is 2400 a year for 2 cars (evo full coverage 500 deductible, other is just liability), as well as my renters insurance. i think the evo breaks out to about 1600 a year.
im 25, have one moving violation on my record (non speeding) as well as an at fault accident with a $10k payout...so i think im doin all right now.
