As a side note, I think you can still contact the insurance company regarding any discrepancies that you notice. For example, I made a claim a while back where I knew that the body shop doing the repair estimates was using the incorrect part, though the insurance company had immediately issued a payment based on that estimate after receiving it. I contacted the claims adjuster with the correct part number and price, and after verifying it, they sent me the difference in price between the quoted part and the correct part, though they were pretty clear about the payout for the labor not changing since that is what they consider the "fair value" or something like that. (However, if I had the work done at their approved facility and the labor or part ended up costing more, then I still wouldn't have to pay out of pocket for the difference, as it would be billed to the company -- that wouldn't happen if I took it to a facility of my choosing not on their list of their own approved shops.)

Unless you're on some weird payment plan, that doesn't add up.

^ The difference in rates is practically irrelevant when you're comparing your rates to someone else's in a different state.

Any ny rates? Im trying to get a 2013 gsr... so far geico quoted me 2600 for 6 months full coverage.. i bugged out... no accidents no tickets im 31 been driving 15+ years and i had geico for 5 years with my other 2 cars... other places like state farm and allstate they quoted me 1000 for 6 months which is reasonable. Anyone has any experience or heard anything about esurance?. Thanks

NY rates are just high in general. But since Esurance was recently purchased by Allstate, it helps with their financial stability, but since you do everything online, make sure you know what coverages you should get.

Hmmm that's true. I'm in CT home of expensive everything. It's ridiculous. I know my rates were a little higher because they said technically I never had insurance in my "own" name. I've always been on somebody else's policy but paid. That can make a difference too.

A lot of the states in that part of the country have higher rates. I'd say that NY, NJ, MA and maybe even RI do have it worse than people in CT.
