Official EVO Insurance Thread

as I'm approaching very close to buying an evo i've been shopping for insurance checking months ago and checking now. this is what kind of kills me inside and i find to make little sense. I own an 04 tiburon currently. i pay 86 a month for bare minimum coverage in nj with no current points but two incidents from some time ago. one set to hit the 5 year drop off mark in a few months and one in a year.
86/month for 04 tiburon min coverage.
replace with 05 evo financed insurance goes up 2.5 times a month to about 220 i think it was.
heres the kicker.
keep both cars insurance only increased 56 a month to finance the evo totally doable.
own the evo drop the tiburon no payments insurance drops 10 dollars from current 86.
so in my current situation where i'll be financing. keeping the tiburon is cheaper lol. guess it's better that way so if i break something expensive i have a backup car. backup cars are always nice to have.

Also about to buy an evo and just realized I need to check with insurance. I have gotten a lot of different numbers thrown at me. All the way from $1600 a year, all the way to almost $5000 a year.
I was used to paying about $1200 a year from a smaller insurance company for full coverage. Looks like I'll be spending $2100 a year with State Farm now
For this full coverage, it is a $500 deductible, 300/500 for uninsured and under-insured motorists and 300/500 for injury... Kinda sucks but I had a buddy get in a serious accident and he is in a coma currently so I am not messing around with that... Should also mention that I am 19, good student discount, clean record with all that good discount stuff.

I have 6 cars.. the evo is insured by hagerty with my 2 datsuns. 100k/300k $0 deductible Stated value is $30,000 (they pay out 30k if my car is totaled) and every year i pay $567 on the evo by itself. Im sure it will be cheaper with a less stated value or coverage.

That doesn't sound too bad at all. The insurance quotes I've been receiving are mediocre, even with the USAA student discount/bundle discount, I'm looking at 3200 for the year :/

I pay $496 every 6 months. $500 deductible. Been driving for 20 years and have maybe 2 tickets in my lifetime. The kicker is that originally I was quoted $310 every 6 months (which was less than my 2013 Honda Fit and 2001 Acura Integra). It was until I actually had the car that it jumped up so much. Think I need to make a call to figure something out.

That's nothing! When I was your age (well, 21 maybe) and owned a 1996 Mazda R1 RX-7 with a bunch of tickets, my insurance was about $400 a MONTH. But in fairness, that also included insurance for a Limited Edition British Racing Green Mazda Miata and a 1992 Honda Civic.
Now I have passed the age 40 barrier and when I added insurance for my FE (I already owned a 2002 Lexus RX300) my insurance went from about $700 a year to $2000 a year - with a $500 deductible, full coverage and 2-year new car replacement.

Question for NEW JERSEY Evolution IX owners
I'm 32 years old and getting ready to buy an Evo 9.
I just did an online quote from geico and they quoted me 1900 for a 6 month policy at 356 a month.
I want to know if there is any other insurance companies you recommend me checking with and any advice to get a cheaper quote. I know there are many factors involved but let's keep it simple and have somebody who lives in New Jersey and has an Evo respond to this! I will be checking the thread multiple times a day until I can get some helpful information and advice! Thanks fellas! Much respect and thanks in advance!

I will also be in the same boat pretty soon. In NJ New Jersey Manufactures Insurance (NJM) is by far the cheapest insurance in the sate. You will have to call and find out if your eligible to apply for the insurance first.
I do not have an Evo yet (in the market) but for a 2016 Acura Rdx, 2007 Crv, 2006 Crv I pay $198 a month on a 12 month Policy with only the Acura under full coverage with a $500 deductible. Hope this helps point you in the right direction.
