Battery Issue
#16
I run the Buschur battery in my Evo which is a daily driver without a single problem now for the better part of a month.
Just the same I'm planning on installing a solar battery tender in the rear ledge by the window and run a line to the battery. In this way I get the peace of mind that the battery isn't going to suffer because its less then 40F outside. The solar kit btw was 25 bucks.

FWIW I'm on my 3rd battery in 3 years.. Not sure if something is damaging them though, but when it gets deeply discharged. I had alot of trouble getting it to take a charge again. (I recommend getting the special charger they sell for it)
Generally I don't have problems if I drive the car regularly, or keep a battery tender on it.

cca(cold cranking amps) is rated @ 0 degrees for 15 seconds in an oddessy pc680 is 220. The 680 is the hca(pulse hot cranking amps @ 70 degrees for 5 seconds. The tender isnt the issue. its the power of the battery. The lancer needs 420 cca to start @ 0 degrees. I have a pc900 in my evo. works great with the uicp.

I was planning on doing the Buschur UICP and mini battery next spring. I live in Michigan and drive my Evo pretty much every day - do you think this might be an issue long term? I park the Evo in my garage, but it is still cold in there...

Driving it everyday won't get it deeply discharged. A tender is still a good idea for mini batteries in cold climates.

When I was in Iraq I had my wife starting my car once a week and it would go dead on her. It would seriously frustrate her that she would have to push the Evo out of the garage to line it up with her Beetle to jump it off. I have since bought a recharger/jumper from Wally World to alleviate those problems. I would have them drive it more than once a week just to be safe.

Well guys, for an update on my situation (and to also help the original poster). After talking to several people and what not, I had decided to just go with the Odyssey PC680. So I called a few places on it, just to check stock, just to be safe, and guess what, BACKORDER. So after talking to a guy at a local motorcycle shop, I got the number direct to Odyssey, and they said the same, the reg PC680 is on a backorder for 22 weeks. Can't imagine why.
It gets good though. I spoke to the lady there, explained the situation, and for the record, she was a real helpful, she showed some awesome customer service. So in the short, they are shipping me out one PC680MJ-T (which is basically the reg, with the red metal sleeve, and SAE terminals), for the total of $140.95 to mu door USPS from CA.
Now I play the waiting game...oh and thanks for all the tips guys!

As a quick update, just wanted to say that I was deff more than pleased with the service I got. As I had said, I ordered the battery late tues from Cali, and to my surprise, it came in today via USPS.
for West Coast Batteries!!
If anyone happens to want their number, let me know. I don't want to break the rules for "advertising" for a non vendor .
