Why No Mitsubishi EVO car commercial ?
#46
That's like saying everyone who has a Lancer would have an Evo if they knew about it... You know that's not true, for multiple reasons. It might take a few sales away, but nothing on the scale that the 1 series will from the 3 series.

No, it's not like saying that at all. People already know about the Evo, that's why it doesn't need advertised. Those who buy a Lancer because they can't afford an Evo or just don't want one. Those who want one or a similar car, already know about it.
I can see having multiple cars in an ad if the ad is for the car company. For example, those Lexus commercials that run during the holidays show a few of their models. Same with BMW... Buy a BMW, here are some of our models in the 1, 3, & 5 series line up. Notice how BMW doesn't advertise the M3 or M5? At least I've never seen one.
But, to make an advertisement for a car only to show a better car at the end of the ad would be self-defeating. It's degrading to the car they just spent the whole commercial hyping up.
The people who work in that business obviously know more about successful advertising than us, and they're not advertising the Evo... that's enough to put 2 & 2 together for me. It's not necessary and would be a waste of funds.

I remember that commercial, I had to rewind my DVR to be sure... There is no doubt that that's an Evo... First I thought it was just a riced out Lancer. But it is 100% for sure an Evo, or someone spent way too much money making a Lancer to look EXACTLY like an Evo.

This kind of car need no advertisment. If you're in a hunt for a sports/performance
car... then you wont rely on a 30 sec commercial. You'll do a research which car
will fits your needs.
That's how I found my baby(ix mr), never heard of this car before but after a
researched and comparisons + tons of good reviews I never hesitated getting
this awesome car.

Personally, I would see a benefit to advertising the X.
A big part of advertisment is brand awareness and development, not necessarily the product itself.
As Mitsu shifts it's target market to compete with BMW, Audi, and Acura it will need to develop brand awareness and image. I can almost guarantee that "ricer" isn't what they are shooting for....
What do you think the "average" buyer of this target audience thinks of when they think of the Mitsu brand? .
Positive brand awareness filters through an entire product line, not just the marque product.

The S2000 was in a generic Honda commercial once of like "hey, honda is a cool company" it was the car for their car division.
