Lol, Me and My Brother got Evo's, Lol, 19 and 20...Lol, Accidents happen though no matter what age you are...Lol, There's no way in hell a person can turn from the age of 18 to "Old enough to drive an Evo." Lol, I would suggest this kid gets a new evo and have mommy and daddy help him out, thats what there here for. You know what they say "If you got it, Use it."

Yeah..no kidding. If my parents were gonna scratch out a check for a Evo 10, or I was gonna be stuck with my old car (I guess depending on what it is), I would smile and thank my lucky stars my parents are buying me a $40,000 vehicle. I got a 1976 Chevy Luv from my parents.

Parents should, can, and will buy their kids whatever car they please. A buddy of mine took order of his 997 GT3 while in college and paid for by none other than his parents. Nice car, hasn't been in any accidents, and he takes very good care of it.
Just because you or your parents were/are poor doesn't mean other people can't experience nice things. EvoM's "My life sucked, so others lives have to suck" attitude is getting a little old.

I'm 32 years old and make plenty of money and have been doing so since I was 23. I didn't have a car handed to me while I was in high school. I worked and saved my money and bought MY OWN CAR with MY OWN MONEY. Since then, I can't tell you how many cars I've owned, but they were all paid for BY ME and I'm proud of that.
My parents couldn't afford to be buying me a $30,000 car and to be honest, I would never expect them to even if they could. I know people that put themselves in financial binds just to satisfy thier kids or even drive crappy cars while thier kids drive nicer ones. My two sons will not be driving a car that is nicer than mine if I'm paying for it.
My life didn't and doesn't suck one bit. Everyones parents have thier own ways of bringing thier kids up. My parents way worked for me and that is the exact way I plan to show my two boys how to become responsible and appreciate whats important. While in college, driving a new 997 GT3 shouldn't be one of them.

Boostfiend's comment is the only 1 that has any meaning to this thread. All these "youre young so you cant own an evo" comments are idiotic. As stated before, young people drive recklessly is stereotyping. Sure lots of them do, but so do lots of adults.
When i first owned my evo before i was 20 (no rich parents here) majority of the guys who revved or messed with me on the streets were guys who were old enough to be my dad. I rarely had youngsters messing with me and i lived in SoCal (big street racing scene).
None of us know the OP, if he's spoiled, then sucks...you cant always get what you want. But if he isnt, then good luck to you on another deal.
PS: "another 1000" on a 5 or 6yr term with interest can add up to a hefty amount here guys. When i negotiate with dealers, i haggle them down to the very dollar amount that i want.

My parents never bought a car for me. Oh well, don't care and I still love them the same. If the OP's parents are going to buy him a car, who should care what it will be? If the guy had said the car was returned cause of bad paperwork and had left out the parents buying him a car, then this whole posting would have been about people telling him... "that sucks man"
To me it just seems that everyone who's parents didn't buy them a car in highschool or college are jealous.

I got an evo ix from a used car lot and they let me drive it home with basically no paperwork and nothing finalized only giving us an initial price and interest rate that we agreed to. the next day i had to bring it back because there were some cosmetic repairs that they were going to make as agreed on. so i was without the car for 6 days. when i went to pick it up there were supposed to have the paperwork there to be signed but in a rather unorganized (yet expected) fashion they did not have it. today they brought the paperwork to my house and my mom was about to sign it but realized the finance rate had gone from 6.8% to 8.9%. and the price of the car had been raised over $1000. that started a big arguement between my parents and the "dealer" and my dad decided i would not get the car and they would just give me back my old car. now im stuck with no options. my parents refuse to buy me a used car now and im not a fan of the X. the aluminum (from what i hear) is no good for modding. theres really no cars out there that are this style anymore... i dont really know what to do.
That said, if your parents would rather buy you a 40k+ Evo X instead of dealing with another used car dealership...well...it sounds like you have nothing to worry about. Honestly, I don't want to be an *** about it, but if they can afford to buy you an Evo they can afford to buy you plenty more.

The Evo is NOT a good car for an inexperienced driver, or one who is likely to still be developing their level of maturity. If one pays for their own car, it will at least increase the odds that the owner/driver will respect the car more than one who is handed the keys. Not every young driver is Colin Braun - in fact, I'd say the vast majority are at the opposite end of the spectrum.
It's just a generalized rule of thumb to try to better the odds of survival for both the driver (yes, we care about them too) and the Evo.

Why is everyone putting the evo on this high platform? It's not all that everyone makes it seem to be. Your age does not determine your maturity level. What if his parents bought him a civic si instead? Would everyone agree that it's ok for a young person to drive cause it has no turbo??? He could then buy a supercharger or turbo kit and be faster than a stock evo. It really doesn't matter if they bought him a geo metro or ferrari enzo, people seem jealous cause their parents didn't buy them a car. Bottom line.

Don't listen to these retards about age. As stated above age doesn't decide your maturity and neither does buying your own car. I've either talked to or read about atleast 5 Evo owners that totalled their Evo's (all being their own fault) and they were all 24-35yrs old. Yes your chances are better that you'll get into an accident if you're younger as far as DOT statistics but it's just a law of averages.

That said, I can understand the concern about handing an Evo to a kid (if, in fact, the OP is a kid). I think a few years on the road in a non-turbo car is a smart way to go. Not only does it help build experience, it gives the driver time to work out those youthful indiscretions without 300hp+ under their ***. Basically it's like giving a kid a BB gun and training them to use it properly...if they screw up or do something stupid, it's just a sharp sting (you'll shoot your eye out, kid!). If they screw up with an actual rifle, the situation is a bit worse. I admit that's not the best analogy, and don't really like comparing guns to cars lol but you get the gist.
And with all that said, I'm still confused as to what the problem is. The OP is saying that his parents won't get him a used Evo, and he doesn't want a new one. Am I wrong? Can't the OP get pretty much any car in that price range? Why should I shed a tear exactly? lol In all honesty, telling him to "get a job" is a fair answer. If he had a job, and it was his money, he would have the choice of getting any used Evo he wanted. So, there you have it, that's one possible solution.
