I've owned 2 of these things and I know the specs on them. ITS AT LEAST 200lbs difference! My car weighs 3120 with me and a 1/4 tank of gas....I weigh 165 then add the fuel! SO, IF you can really drive you should be able to pull at least the same, if not a better time than Car and Driver or Motor Trend or whom ever you look at for specs.

I think you should probably read a little closer....I NEVER said that 100lbs made 2 mph and .2 difference......I said that it needs to be MORE then 100! I'm sorry it was kind of a hidden message. Read what you quoted me from before, im being sarcastic! (YOU'RE the one who needs the clue.)
It's hard to not act like an English teacher when talking to someone with such awful reading comprehension as yourself.

My post didn't say a damn thing about the RS' times specifically. Get it? I was talking about a difference of 100lbs. I already said that I was incorrect about the RS weight difference (damn me for believing the official weight). Therefore I already admitted that any statement I made regarding the RS' performance was probably overly conservative. Is the picture coming together for you now?

I'm done here.

Many interior trim pieces are different.

A lot of JDM RSes are so much lighter because they have smaller JDM lancer ES seats and no brembos.

EDIT: My 2004 RS was 3080 lbs (on several different sets of racing scales) _stock_
that's not true, you could order your 04 RS without A/C, I was going to do this... but yes there was no Aluminum roof in 04

You are WRONG, you couldn't order an 04 RS without AC. Everyone keeps repeating the same thing they read in some magazine in 04 or on the net. A FEW press cars were without AC in the US. There were no 04 RS's sold without AC as in a customer could delete that option off an order sheet. Wishful thinking, not so.

I didn't read it on the net.... I went to the dealership to order one, they said you could do the A/C delete option.

Yeah so did I...and guess what? It came with AC. Every single one came with AC. Don't speculate about what you "could" do. I actually tried to do it.

the Al roof saves 4kg.....
Those are 2005 models, released in 2004. The 2004 RS was introduced midway through the 2004 production cycle. Along with a few others on here I have one of the very first build date 2004 RSes. The 2005s only arrived about 6 months later.

yeah 04's are rare, they were selling 03's well into 04, when 04's finally came out, they came out with 05's a few months later. I wonder what the actual production of 04's let alone the 04 RS

MMNA is not going to be a good place to look because PR people aren't going to have accurate info. See if you can get shipping manifests or build sheets.

On the original order sheets, there was supposed to be an A/C add option but there wasn't and it isn't mention as an addition on my original window sticker. The Urban Jungle Package was mentioned in a lot of early product literature, but likewise was never available on an order sheet.

I have these numbers somewhere. It's all published in the quarterly reports because mitsu motors is a publicly traded company [toyko market i guess]. I'll see if I can find them. Unlike the regular evo, the RS was actually "limited edition" with no more than 700 to be built. The regular Evo VIII was only limited by production capacity and they built as many as they could sell. However figure that sticks in my mind is 524 RSes for 2004 -- most of them being Red. Take that one with a grain of salt though...

cheers

Well it CAN be your DEF. correct by saying that but in this case its not that big a diff between the 4 models if you pull up the specs on stock track times for them all. there IS a diff. though no argument there.

Lots of misinformation in this thread.

ALL 04's had AC. Just like ALL other model years.
