Springs or coilovers?

I've got an 03 evo with the basics.....BR intake, 3inch tb, mr dv, bc set at 19psi, tune by topspeed, act clutch. The car is almost fast enough , but i would like it to handle a little bit better. Keep in mind that i don't track the car but do drive it hard here and there ( mountain runs). I was thinking about putting Swift springs on and maybe a larger sway bar ( 25 instead of the 22 stocker). What do you guys think? Any experience with the Swift springs?

Add some MR Bilsteins and you'll be set. Honestly, a RSB isn't nessacery. Learn to trail brake. IMO, a RSB will just create TOO much oversteer and only make you "feel" fast by drifting.

That sounds good and it wouldn't break the bank, i've heard the MR Bilsteins are a good upgrade. What kind of springs rates are we talking for street use?

I can almost guarantee you you're not pushing the suspension near its limits on the street so the minor difference you may see from a sway bar or springs isn't really worth it. You're not going to notice much of a handling difference with either. Pick up an inexpensive street-friendly set of coilovers like some Megans and you'll be set.

Coilovers are always nice because you can raise or lower the ride height whenever you want to.

yes coilovers just cause springs will put some stress on your stock struts. just get the entire setup.. also like stated above you can adjust height and dampening force when needed on most setups.....

Coilovers, I agree with what everyone here is saying. You can pick up a decent set for a good price (i.e Megans) You dont have to get anything ridiculous like JIC's and spend a good $2k. Well worth it in my eyes though.

But for street use, cant go wrong with Megans

A nice spring setup with MR suspension and maybe a RSB is all you need for the streets without compromising comfort. Only consider coilovers for the track where it's needed. I love seeing people who drive there evos everyday and suffer on $4,000 suspension stiffness just cause they thought they really needed it. To have soem fun in the back roads and streets springs and a rsb is all you need and maybe some nice shocks

The MR struts with Swift springs are nice and I wouldn't mind having that on my DD Evo. My bro-in-law has it on his 9MR and they feel great. I have my hotchkis spring on my stock 04 GSR struts for over 30K miles and they have been good. Took them to a few track days and they are still pretty good for daily driving. Definitely softer than the stock and a nice drop.

I also have hotchkis RSB with perrin endlinks, WORKS rear strut bar and RMR underbrace and they all work nicely on the car. The biggest difference though was definitely the RSB.

Er, just because you get coilovers doesn't meant you need a $4000 Ohlins set up. A Megan street set can be had for $850 brand new or even less than that used and will offer at worst the same ride comfort as stock.

When you say the Megan's offer similar to stock ride quality are you referring to stock MR ride quality or GSR ride quality?
