When I use to have an MR2... I zip tie my plate in front of the radiator. I think you can probably zip tie it to the front grill of your evo instead of drilling hole or glue or the 3M double sided tape. The only thing is that you will not get as much air to the intercooler

I have mine zip tied to the mesh on the driver side of the intercoller and the other side i duno i think its just kinda bent in there. It is not covering the intercooler no more then 1/4 inch. So basically not covering it at all.

I wouldn't consider it them stealing as much as I'd consider it you donating money to them. Or are the laws not published where you're at?

Also, yes speeding 5-10 over the speedlimit is uh well speeding. Do 10 over in a 20 around here and you can get pegged for being reckless.

evo@24psi - On my previous IS, I've done this a couple times, just crazy glued (or rubber cemented) screws that had the ends cutoff on the actual two holes, and then used double sided tape to attach it to the front bumper, I just wanted to see if there was an easier way before I do it again.

glgz - and to whoever else that just wants to put it on and forget about it, this is what I have come up with.

a) I have been pulled over quite a few times for speeding (going just 5-10 mph over the limit is speeding to some a hole pigs) and they just wrote me off with a fixit ticket for not having a front plate versus a real speeding ticket so not having a front plate may actually save you from getting a real ticket sometimes unless the pig is a REAL BIG A HOLE and gives you a ticket for no plate AND speeding, thats happenned to me once.

b) More and more camera enforced intersections are coming up by the day, literally on almost every intersection, there are cameras, so you have no plates on, you dont need to worry if you pass a late yellow light and the camera flashes and its your car in the middle of the intersection...

Therefore no way, no plates.

I thought of the zip tie idea but it wont pass, they say, it needs to be screwed safely to your bumper, bastards.

I feel your pain. After a similar run in with Johnny Law I decided to use magnets to secure my plate to my front bumper. Well it's been over 6 months, and I've been through blizzards and monsoons...never fallen off once. Also tested up to 120mph (closed course) without worry. Best part is I can pull it right off without effort.

Here in Virginia 2 plates are required, however, I haven't had a chance to follow up with the DMV yet but I heard from somewhere if you register your car as a sports car only 1 plate is required.

Has anyone else heard this?

Call DMV and report your front license plate stolen. When you get pulled over inform them you have already called up and done so.. If you get a ticket the call and it being on file will be your ticket out.

shame on you trying to cheat the system like that, what about just placing it on the windshield from the inside?
