Exclamation Buying Evo...Check out the price, what do you think?

NOTE - I am posting this for a buddy who is looking into this Evo.

Red 2003 Evo VIII
Stock - MT (It has a different engine which is being removed and the car is going back to stock)
15,000 Miles
Currently In storage

I don't have any more info on the car except that its in excellent condition.

It's owned buy a mechanic who is currently flying up a friend/mechanic from Barbados, to swap out the engine and put the rest of the stock parts on, to help him until he flies in from Barbados.

From what my friend said, the car as is has 450HP++ with the current setup. He might check it out this Monday, so hopefully if he sees it we'll have more details on it then.

The guy lives in Barbados and has the car sitting over here in storage, so he is selling it.

My friends parents know the know the gentlemen selling the car. But the guy is more of an acquaintance to my friend.

Blue Book Says....
Excellent $21,845
Good $20,700
Fair $19,125

The price my buddy is getting it for $15,000.

I thought I had a sweet deal on my 05 OZ w/ 47K miles for $7500 (considering that it should have sold for $10,500) but this is pretty sweet.

Thoughts???????????

Thanks for reading!

I havent seen any evo with so little miles and 450hp sell for 15k. Make sure he checks that car out really carefully, it could turn into a nightmare.

The car isnt being sold with 450HP, they are going to put the stock engine and parts back on.

The guy said if he would have left the engine the way it was, he would have let it go for $20K +++.

Sometimes its better to just buy the car stock.15K seems a bit cheap even for a stock 03.

The reason he is taking out the engine is because if he sells it stock he will let it go for 15k.

But the setup he has on it now was used out on the track.

With it being from a friend of his parents, I don't think its so bad. Its more of a sweet deal.

But if it was some stranger off the street, eh, I'm sure it would be a fishy deal...

I would at least run a carfax to see if there are any records on the car.

Tell your friend to pass. If he has 15k to spend on a car why not use that as a downpayment on a near new 06 evo? If he's financing 15k to buy a used evo then he should really pass.

He is not financing and he doesn't want to buy a new car, he wants to ride the car for a year or so and then get rid of it for something else.

I would never buy a car where the motor was being swapped in right before a sale.
