Buzz Sound in Rear
Hey guys, so I've only owned my 03 Evo for about a week now. New Tires, new Clutch installed last week, but now I'm hearing a slight buzz sound coming from the rear axle area of my car.
Sounds like an electronic buzz, underneath my rear axle area. Very soft and hardly noticable, but it's there. The sound comes when I'm in a parked position and when driving. I've noticed this sound does increase from time to time when I'm driving and in the higher rpms. I would say it sounds very similar to when you crank you car's steering wheel and the automatic steering sound kicks in. It's a little fainter than that, but you get my idea hopefully. Weird thing is, this morning it appeared the sound went away. In and out.
I'm thinking this could be a small leak in my exhaust due to the recent shifting that took place when I got my Clutch installed. I've never had a leaky exhaust so I can't accuratly say that's it. The other possibility might be that it has something to do with the rear differnential. But if the sound comes when I'm parked that would be almost impossible. My last guess would be the fuel pump, I'm outfitted with a Walbro and I've heard this might cause the sound. Anyone experience this noise.
Thanks,
- Steve
PS: I have been experiencing issues with my sub and amp located in my trunk, and was thinking this might be the victim, but I've turned off the stereo completely and still the buzz is present. Gonna get my oil changed today and see if the shop can identify what the sound may be.

Is that it? I hadn't hear that sound before, maybe I never noticed it. Like I said I've only had the car for a week.
Does this mean I should change my oil filter or something? The car's in need of an oil change asap.
Thanks for the help...

It's actually been pretty nice here in Denver for the last few days. In the mid 50's and up into the 60's.
Can't wait to hear this pump in the summer, I'm one who hates any annoying noises and I'm sure this is gonna drive me crazy. Oh well, performace over comfort always seems to win.

You'd most lilkely have to remove the pump. great how to on evomoto.com
If you want to check if its the walbro just put you're ear at idle next to the rear drivers side seat. Thats where its located.
