its hard to shift gears at high rpms
but once you adjust it, it gets a little easier

I just had GST install my ACT HDSS clutch with resurfaced stock flywheel and I read about that happening with ACT clutches. After reading through many threads and peoples feedback, I decided I would be OK with my purchase. ACT & Exedy are the two most recommended clutches, I repeatedly see, on the MANY 'Which Clutch should I buy' threads out there.

Good luck with your decision.

I did when I had mine, adjusted the clutch rod, etc to no avail. I would get locked out of second or third gear and get crappy 60's. My problem may be due to my flywheel/clutch combination. If you were to get the HDSS I would recommend using your stock flywheel and getting it resurfaced.

No problem with mine using an RRE No Name flywheel, but I changed to that flywheel at the same time as upgrading to the ACT Extreme, so I cannot comment on how it works with a stock flywheel

How many miles are currently on your evo? TBH, I would suggest getting a new flywheel of some sort, while you're in it, just to do some preventative maintenance while you've got it open. Rather than having to pay for it down the road, when it (possibly, though not 100% sure) fails. Just to be safe.

I went with the ACT flywheel, (not the super light one) that weighs as much as the stock one, but you can see from the construction that more of the weight is to the center of the flywheel, which IMO, gives faster rev up.

If it weighs the same as the stocker, then it should have the same rotational mass, which wouldn't affect revs. Faster rev up is not always a great thing, on the flip side, it would also drop rpms quicker during shifting, so you would have to shift faster IMO.
