Yeah, I guess the scary thing is that I did nothing to provoke this guy other than drive slowly down a very snow covered road. And everyone else was driving at or below the speed I was.
The officer did ask me if I had felt threatened when he had the tire iron. My answer was, "Honestly, I didn't even think about it at the time."
But of course one of the first things my wife says is, "Well thank goodness he didn't take a swing at you."
Also, I definitely take this as a lesson that it's always a good idea to be the one who stays calm and doesn't provoke anything in this type of situation.
Thanks for your feedback guys.

Something semi-similar to your situation happened to a fellow classmate of mine from the PD academy. Needless to say, my classmate won, and the suspect (now defendant) has a limp. I am glad that you are okay, and you didn't play "hero". As for the susp's kid, the kid is better off without his or her dad for now. You did your civic duty, and be proud of the outcome.
OT: Don't ever think that a tire iron is a "win all" in a confrontaion, ....... if it was....I would have a really LLLLLOOOOONNNNGGGGG holster

When it comes to personal protection, there's no reason to compromise. Of course, that's probably why I carry an H&K.

Sorry to hear about this though, you handled it pretty calmly.... if it were me, I'd be fighting to protect myself, if I felt my well being was being threatened and if I felt my car was going to be damaged.
There are some states that have a "castle doctrine" where you can legally protect your property and yourself using deadly force with a gun if need be for example states like Texas and Florida allow this...
so if it were me, I would have put 2 rounds of .45 ACP through his chest if he were charging at me with a tire iron....
i.e.- There was a story that took place in Texas where this guy in a Chevy Camaro shot and killed a guy in a Mitsubishi Lancer because of this same exact situation.....
Mitsubishi guy kept harrasing the Camaro owner, kept provoking, Camaro guy was armed with a gun, tried to be nice and ignore him, but no.
The Mitsubishi guy insisted on being Mr Tough guy, and proceeded to charge at the camaro guy so guess what? Camaro guy shot Mitsubishi guy dead...
So again, I'm sorry, as a man, I cannot sit down like a coward and do nothing to protect myself and my property if I am being taunted and physically attacked....

all that matters is that you are safe and well. for the guy in the ford, he will get exactly what is coming to him for acting like a douche in front of his child.
you seem pretty calm in throughout the ordeal. you handled the situation extremely well. for me, i probably would have freaked out and ran the guy over... well, only if it was really life threatening
i think you should be nice to the guy and send him some KY jelly as a gift when he's in jail
