HELP!!11, Exhaust loud!

1: I was going out to dinner tonight, and all of a sudden at about 28, 29 hundred RPMS, my Evo got really, really loud. Like the exhaust sounded 2x louder than normal. I have an 03' Evo 8, and it only has about 26,700 miles on it. Anyone know whats wrong???!?

2: I was about to get ready to buy a new clutch for it, anyone have suggestions on what clutch I should get? between 280-360 HP on it (havent dyno'd recently)

HAHAHAHHA funny you mention this... Is it stock exhaust?

This EXACT same thing happened to me when I had stock exhaust. The weld on the one resonator BROKE!!!!!! The exhaust completly seperated. Check to see if your exhaust broke. It's very likely it may have..

If it's not stock, then I'm not sure what to suggest...

dude, i have exactly the same thing. 29, 29 hundered RPMS same thing happens to me, i dont know what is going on either. i kind of think it has something to do with the engine though. either that your the exhaust is vibrating somewhere at that certain RPM, most likely the cat-forward.

I'd still place my bet on an exhaust leak.

As far as clutch goes just get an ACT HDSS if your only wanting around 360hp.

Is it just loud? Or does it rattle? Does it only do it at those RPMS? or "starting" at those RPMS? Post a sound clip, and we can fix it if it is the exhaust.

It does the loudness even in nuetral just rev'ing

I found my recent sheet, its at about 325 HP, so any clutch suggestions under 600 bucks? that are worthwhile. Heard the Clutchmasters kevlar is pretty good, friend had one on his evo 9, pushing 736 AWHP
