Evo IX rs, pricing questions
#16
also ^^ yeah, id love to pay 10k for it. haha thats one of my arguing points, 22k for all of that. i can go get a suzuki for less with more options hahah (j/k EVO>any model suzuki car).

I was being sarcastic... 22k, as long as it's in good mechanical/physical shape is a pretty damn good price for the performance you get.
I dunno, maybe it's me... but I think I'm not alone in thinking 22k or even slightly more is a pretty good deal if the car is clean.

yeah i know 22k isnt bad. but im thinking this car has seen a rough user. i mean 42k miles on an 06 model. now i know some people have long commutes to and from, which might be the case, might not be the case. and some people like to drive around at night when they cant sleep. and a ton of other things that might equate for this having high mileage. the interior looks just like my 02 lancer interior, not everything mind you but in general, and im losing power locks, windows, and remote entry. i do gain 2.0l turbo awd and an assload of other gains, but im still sketchy on the 2 2k price. i will be seeing this in person so i cant make certain claims as of now, but i can assume and predict. i had a clutch go out and i knew because i had a hard time engaging the gears. it would just slip out of gear, intermittently, at high and low speed. but i just drove and held the shifter down on the gear the whole time, till i made it home. im not sure of all the symptoms being as how i have only had one kill on me. cfetter- yeah i understand the pricing thing, but kbb assumes that regular maintenance and driving has been all the vehicle has seen, ceteris paribus. regular people dont drive their evo's this way. only car people keep them this way.

right, but kbb is only a guide....
actual value is determined off of supply and demand.... only a handful of red RS's available used in the states (according to a quick autotrader search)....
mileage doesn't always mean abuse... we had a white 06 MR with 35k on the clock and it was beautiful and mechanically very sound.... the guy who owned it was older and just drove quite a ways to work...

You do know there are plenty of Evos for sale elsewhere right? You don't have to latch onto the first one that catches your eye. These threads never cease to amaze me.
Do you want us to talk you into buying it our talk you out of buying it?

again crx2evo-your being an ***. this is not what im asking for. im asking for things to look for in this particular car. yes i do know there are other evo's around, but i am currently interested in this one. if i wanted someone to talk me into buying a car i would show up at a dealership without any prior knowledge at all and let them rape my wallet. obviously i dont want that to happen, hence this thread.
cfetter- i understand the basic concept of supply and demand, but the demand for a red rs now is alot lower than it was when released. the X has taken the current spotlight and demand in people interested in evo's. people in the know or evo enthusiast's demand the rs. but i dont see hordes of people flocking to this car. yeah i know mileage doesnt mean abuse, i currently also own a 86 ford f-150 with 196k, its a I6, and still runs like a champ. my dad was only owner until me, and have performed all maintenance. i was earlier stating that evo's, in particular to the used car market, are not always in top shape, i mean a majority of evo owners don't want to get rid of their cars. i understand things come up and taste change. but for a car, it has one of the most loyal followings. and i already stated that this mileage might be due to work commute, but it is till mileage. maybe not hard or abusive mileage, but time on the road none-the-less. i see mileage like hour meter's on lawn equipment. alot of hours means alot of use. could be gentle use, but overall it was still used that many hours.

also, i just saw a 06 IX mr for 25k. it only had 9k miles on it. im not after that mr, but it has way more options than the rs and way lower miles, and their asking price is only 25k. so this goes to my point of thinking 42k miles and a sticker of 22k is a little high IMO. since there are other 06 IX's with significantly less miles for only a couple grand more. plus they have extras the rs doesnt.

Puts flame suit on...
If it makes you feel better I just payed 27k for a IX RS with 23k on it, new tires and had a nice stereo. 30 bux should get me power door locks. I admit I payed too much, but I wanted a IX RS with low miles and no mods.
It's only money

Sorry, decent evos don't sell for under $20k. They will more than likely go UP in value since a lot of people won't be able to afford a X.
I just put mine in kbb to see what the Retail Value is and it's $25k on an 03' with full options.
