So my Horn Started Honking Itself....

I awoke this morning to what i thought was some d-bag trying to wake his friend up. But i look out on my car and see its my horn thats blowing. Not an alarm or anything, like an electrical short thats causing the horn to go off.....constantly.

I removed the relay under the hood that is attached to the horn, but i dont know if its the problem.

So has anyone hear anything like this? is the relay bad? or do i have a short?

Haha thats the factory alarm clock feature from Mitsu, you didn't know?! Is the button stuck on your remote maybe? Never heard of something like that. I work at a car dealership as a body shop guy and have had cars come through that the horn honks itself when you turn the wheel, but never spontaneously.

Did you do any installs or upgrades or service to the car recently? Something must have happened right before this symptom started.

^^^ hahah. who doesnt want to toot their own horn. i have to be honest, when i saw the title to this thread i couldnt stop laughing. and after reading that your horn just honks, my coworkers came and asked me if i was ok. im just wondering if im the first to make the connection between your car...... and herbie the love bug. didn't herbie do some gangster off road crap in races? what you have just bought is really Herbie 2.0 EVO style. "***** it's been raining for 3 days, come drive me..... i need gas (honk honk honk) i can do this all day. this relationship is sooo one sided (honk honk honk) etc."

The three days of rain seems likely to be the key to this problem. Water may have gotten into the wiring. I remember but can't find a thread where water was getting into the loom of this Evo somewhere in the engine compartment and running inside the electrical tape wrapping to inside the car and had corroded the fuse panel. So, I'd look for something like that.
