Evo IX oil
#34
I just changed my oil. I don't know if its a special trick or not, but once you drain it and it stops dripping, put the plug back in and let it set for a few minutes. When you pull the plug a lot more oil starts to drain. I guess it gives it a few minutes to build up in the pan.
I learned this trick because I forgot to put a new crush ring on the oil drain plug and had to unbolt it to put a new one on.
Hope this helps.
PS: Mine only held around 4.5 quarts.

lol.. the oil has no taste,,so i brushed my teeth and everything was ok...

I think you can pump some oil from the dipstick tube if you have the correct hose?

yeah and i dont know if anyone else can vouch or have this problem but my last oil change i could only fill 3.5-4.0 quarts. I did a search on evom.net and some members were saying you should run the oil pretty hot(like drive 20+miles at higher speeds, example coming back from work etc) and let the oil cool a little then drain. Some members were saying you would get more oil out from the pan and also from the oil cooler. just my .02 cents. will try on my next oil change.

Two thoughts:
So if I were you I would take several careful readings, wiping the stick down each time, to figure out exactly how high it really is. If it's much more than a millimeter or two above the full line, I would drain out a quart or so and try it again.
- If you overfill A LOT (not just half a quart or so), the danger is that the oil level in the crank case will be so high, the crank shaft and rod bearings will actually spin into the oil and froth it up, which is a bad situation and can cause the engine to run dry or even seize. But that's only if the oil level is quite high.
- That picture makes your oil look scary high, but sometimes some oil in the dipstick tube will rub into the dipstick and give a false high reading. You should always wipe the stick off carefully before each reading, and take a couple of consecutive readings to get it right, if there's any doubt and/or if the engine was running before the first reading.
