SPA Technique makes some really accurate gauges with red illumination.

I believe their digital gauges read way past 30 psi.

Stewart Warner makes a good Boost gauge, autometer like pricing with a good overall look and it reads to 40psi.
I have one in my talon, and it comes with bulb covers so you can make it backlit in a red/amberish to match the Evo gauge cluster fairly well.
Black background with red/amber lit numbers should look good.
more pictures and information here if interested
any questions? send me a PM anytime.

Just so you know... From my experience, mechanical gauge's greater than 30psi become very laggy/ slow to respond as I found out with my Autometer 45psi gauge. I switched to all AEM electronic gauges because they are instant read off of a map sensor.

I do like the AEM digital gauge, its Very nice if you want to spend the money on it.
My Stewart Warner, and a few others that have been installed don't seem noticeably sluggish, maybe yours was a defective gauge?
Can see pictures of the AEM digital series and pricing on the same link I posted above
