I have been involved in 24 hrs of Daytona, Sebring 12 hr, Le Mans, the Indy 500, and military unmanned aircraft all running at ten tenths with no ill effects. The screen filter gives the owner a chance to catch an engine failure before it is terminal. Most track junkies change oil and filter after the events but how many cut apart the paper filter to inspect it? You won't see too many raised hands. With this style of filter you can inspect it at the oil change without too much trouble clean it and reassemble. I agree this is not for everone, but the serious guys will see the advantage.

JNZ tuning - they have OEM for like $4 and change (dont know exact amount), I usually get 2 or 3 at a time. They are cheaper than filters at autozone, etc and I trust oem over those things anyday.

Mecca, System 1, stainless screen filters work well are cost less over the long run also they can be plumbed just about anywhere with a spin on filter adaptor and AN hose lines. And lets see if paper filters were that good why dont you see them on premium race cars. ie. F1, Indy, ALMS, IMSA, NHRA do I need to go on. While they might be overkill on the street they will pay for themselves over the lifetime of your car. 4$ filter for a 6-10k modified engine I dont think so.

for those complaining that the price of the canton mecca filter is not justified i would like to point out that filter element replacements are only 14$ & will easily last for 2 oil changes ( CM filters are rated at around 10,000 Miles IIRC)
while the canton does have a higher initial purchase price, if you break it down & compare in the long run, it wont cost much more than a regular filter. yes the CM filter element is roughly 2x the price of a normal filter. but it can last 2x as long as the paper filter.

OEM, k&N or mobile 1 is the only 3 I will use.
I have seen 3rd party testing and all is good. Have only heard about other ones, no imperical data I have seen so im not venturing out and trying them when 3 solid ones are easy to get.
