I honestly wouldnt think either should be on there. Atleast not any of the later evos. Maybe like a 6.5 tme but we are in a different world than car editors

Look closely. It's not the guys Edmunds that said this, it's the insurance company. and by their own admission:

"Hagerty Insurance specializes in protecting collector cars. In establishing the list, the company looked for vehicles that are pop-culture icons, produced in limited quantities and appeal to the style of the next generation of car collectors."

I honestly believe the Evo has the STI beat in the "pop-culture icon" category (think Fast and the Furious, unfortunately), and I know the Evo has the STI beat in the limited quantity category.

In my experience, lot's of people know about the STI, so it get's named when the "rally inspired road car" gets mentioned, but only true enthusiasts know about the Evo... course this is less and less the case thanks to those commercials Mitsu has started playing.

After everyone making fun of their redesign since like 2003, they still come out with a car that is a visual eye sore. So much potential. I am just glad somebody is paying attention over at .

 

Sorry but neither car is going to win a beauty contest any time soon.

 

I am hoping the eggheads in the insurance world are wrong, and that the Evo does become a collector car.
