defi or AEM tru boost?
just bouhgt a 04' rs and was gonna do the tbe. but i think getting a feel for the stock boost (19ish?) visually, and making sure theres no leaks is a good idea first. was gonna go with the defi boost gauge and unfortunatly the controll unit as well, but now im thinking of saving a couple of bucks and using the AEM tru boost and killing two birds with one stone (gauge and ebc).
so should i suck it up and do defi or go with AEM tru boost ?

I'd say go with the truboost
. I have this unit and it is easy to use, has alot of functions, and controls boost like a **** up to 27psi with the supplied solenoid or up to 75psi(i think) with the other soleniod aem sells for the gauge.

1. Asetting(regular boost)
2. Bsetting(race gas boost)
3. overboost protection-you set psi limit and if you overboost(manifold pressure exceeds the alarm value by 10% for more than 1 second or if manifold pressure exceeds the alarm level by 20% for more than 200 milliseconds) the gauge/controller will shut off and all 24 leds will flash red and will not turn on until a button is pushed or the gauge is turned off.
These 3 of the most popular features I use on my trueboost.
So with it being sold as low as $200 shipped I don't know how you could go wrong.

Its not always like this though. You will see reading through posts how some people can be on here.
You are better off just keeping the boost stock for now. Get more mods and then get tuned for them. With basic bolt ons, fuel pump, custom flash, and the boost turned up to 23 lbs. you should make around or just above 300whp. Add cams to the equation and you'll be up around 350whp.

I forget where they were $200 shipped. I think it was a special deal on here in the electronics forum for sale or group buy for sale. I think I picked up mine from 201 motorsports for $240 shipped. Call them and ask for Phil.
