Id be way more concerened with the trap speed. A better tell-tale sign of what yoiu SHOULD be running.

I agree urslo4n8. Trap speed is definitely a strong indicator of what could be. For some reason I was pretty confident that I would be able to find several videos of people running stock IX's in the 12's. Guess I have heard so many people say it, that I thought it was a common occurrence. Now, after a lot of investigation, I am finding this to be a very unique occurrence, and one that has no actual proof to back it up, at least none that I can find.

As stated before it all depends on "your" definition of stock. Stock to some people is minor bolt ons; exhaust, intake, etc, with no turbo or motor mods. I have personally seen an EVO9 SE with just and exhaust and race gas run 12.3 ET.

Well I have seen a guy with a 500 WHP 50 Trim setup get high 12s with 2.0 60's.

No, 250whp would trap about 104. Case in point, my 05 MR put down 248whp on a Dynojet when stock, then I went and ran 13.17 @ 103.89 - pretty much dead on the money, but it was a pitiful 60' (1.92). So, even my 05 MR had a 13-flat or high 12 in it with any normal launch. At the time, though, 05s were brand new, and we had no idea what to do with that stock 5k limiter. In fact, I never even knew it existed until that very first launch at the track. A 1.92 with that scary thing happening right while I was launching was pretty good, but I didn't know how to disconnect it and was screwed the rest of the day. I couldn't figure out how to overcome or avoid, so after 2 more tries in the 2+ range, I quit. Next time out, I had learned how to disconnect it, and I ran a 12.80 @ 106.3, but I had a self-tuned (poorly, heh) SAFC on there, so it was no longer 'stock.' Plenty of IXs have trapped 106-107 with a few even claiming 108, so 12s are no surprise.

106-17 traps equate to 270-280whp...yeah, some IXs really are that strong, and that's why they can also put down 350-360whp with basic stg1 mods on pump gas. Not all are this powerful, but in good conditions (50-60*, low humidity, sea level), they can scream.

the problem is that whenever i try to launch - if i 'slip' the clutch too slowly, there is lag, and acceleration is slow. and if i drop the clutch too fast, it boggs and almost stalls.
everyone tells me i have to raise the rpm to like 5000-6000, before letting off the clutch... whenever i let go of the clutch at 6000rpm, the needle only has another 1k rpm to go before redline, so i have to shift into 2nd gear... so if u think about it, 1st gear is barely enough for a split second.... hence the slow time. so i just dont get it, logically, how can u manage a good time ??

Based on what you wrote here, you haven't actually launched at 6k. Just because you launch at 6k, it doesn't mean you actually stay there. You start the launch at 6k while doing a quick slip, and then you let it rip once it begins to grab. As the engine catches, and the wheels grip, the revs drop down to the 4-5k range, and you rip out of the hole. Yes, it's very quick to 7k when you have to shift, but that's just part of having a fast car. You have to be ready to ****** 2nd gear in an instant. There are countless threads in the drag forum that either explain how to do it in text, show it in a vid, or do both. I know, because I've done both probably 100 times...

Do you still have your clutch pill in place (slave cylinder)?
