Custom Intake Ducting

Has anyone done any custom ducting to the intake/engine bay? Ive seen it on many other cars, and was thinking bout trying it out soon. Simple enough theory, lower engine bay temps as well as increase intake performance.

Should be able to find everything that you need from those guys.

Where do you want to run the cold air to?

it would be cool to use the driver side hole in the bumper to force some cool air through there

The intake pipe sealed to the filter is a good idea. Sort of works like a more efficient stock airbox. However you need to be sure that the flow will be sufficient to the filter. It would be a shame to lower the airflow and increase weight for no reason. A simple heat shield blocking the left side of the filter is typically very good at blocing engine heat. As for running the pipe all around the engine compartment, well... you know that big giant gaping hole in your hood?? That thing does a better job at not only venting the compartment but also introducing airflow than any series of pipes could ever do. Just a thought.

I removed the IC spray bottle and ran a 4inch piece of ducting from the bumper inlet into a cold air box I built. Works great.

This is what I built a few years ago. Works great, a little ghetto.

I'm going to build a new one out of sheet metal, and do some thermal testing. If the data is good I may consider putting it into production with plans to make it pretty universal to most intakes. Currently the cold air boxes are very intake specific.

Just mockup something in pvc piping and then take it to a local exhaust shop. They can weld up your intake pipe really easily.

and the one of the supporting hose for the cold air. extra benefit: cooling the boxes inside too.
it is hard to see but you will find the inlet the outer side in the bumper opening next to the license plate
