Evo tranmission origins?

Hey guys, got a question for you all. I'm almost positive that the trans that is in the evo is a japanese-built mitsu tranmission. Some doofus at work claims otherwise, that most u.s. car transes are built in the U.S. I need some proof to show that he's wrong so I can win the wager we've set. Anyone whom can chime in please do so!

Damian.

If you can somehow get your hands on the window sticker for a VIII or IX, that will prove you are correct. Ask him how can the car be made in Japan, but the tranny is US built. They do not send it w/o the tranny and connect them once here.

Thanks for the rampant replies. Yeah, he thinks they make the trans here, ship it there and slap everything together at the japan plant. I know he's wrong I just need to prove it to him. I bet even if I show him a window sticker he'll be like "thats what they want you to think, but the transes are really made here blah blah blah"

I'd like to see a window sticker since I don't have one because I bought the car used and the previous owner didn't leave it with the car.

I should do that indeed, but rather provide some solid proff instead. Proving the shop foreman wrong is more important to me that punching him in his damned throat haha.

I'd appreciate scans of a window sticker!

There are plenty of vendors and subcontractors automobile manufacturers use. Aisin built/assembled the 6 speed used in the MR. I forgot who built the 5 speed. Have no idea where either was built.
