I had my car tuned with the blitz drop-in and its pretty decent.I have the airbox top removed at the moment and I like the response a little better.Just use straps to hold the clasps in place and take it on or put it back on when you feel the need to.The sound is noticably louder when in spool or blowing off.

if you buy a k&n filter its close to square shaped. if you turn it 90 degrees and insert it into the stock box it goes in pretty tight and doesnt move if you want to remove the cover. only reason why i dont have a cover is because i dont have one.

And there is always the argument against changing the intake due to incorrect readings by the MAF. I know people with cone filters report some erranous readings but i dont know if i have heard of removing the lid doing the same. Although on another thread someone did some flow tests and the flow was much better with the lid removed *(but could mess with readings)

I've experimented with removing the cover. I don't think it helps any performance wise. Makes a bit of noise. I bought and installed a Buschur cone filter and really like it. Won't see any gains though until the tune comes around. I've heard the constant tug of war over the topic of stock air box vs. cone filters for such a long time. Just do what you want. To each and their own.
