Crashed at 180km/h

I just came back from a week long trip and couldn't wait to get back in my EVO. I was flyiong down this road at 180Km/h when I lost controil of the car. The car simply slid out from under me. The back end was sliding left and right, and I was counter steering, trying to get the car back on course. The back driver side ended up slightly swiping the medium and the car straightened back up. Luckily no damage to the car except for a small scarpe to the back driver side bumber and some scratched to the wheel. I got very lucky on this one. But this car is amazing. I don't think I would of gotten so lucky if it had been any other car.

Driver error... I was crusing along and as a general rule, I accelerate on turns... this time I was slowing down as I was coming near the end of the stretch and over steered it a bit.... Thank god I was able to control it somewhat... The rear must have swayed to the right and left about 5 times before it finally straightened out... Good thing no cars were around me.

That happened to me at 35 in an ITR! But I believe it happened because one of my tires busted! Did a 360 onto on coming traffic and barely hit one car, 7k worth of damage!

That sucks man. I have to say you are a better man than most on these kind of boards. This is the first time I have ever seen anyone admit to Driver error.

When you mess up, no sense denying it.

That is why I never ever play in the rain. But big ups to you for not placing blame on the tires.

Right on,
takes a much bigger man to addmit when they F'up than to blame shift like it seems 90% of the population does.... 'Oh I spilled coffee on myself and got burned, so I'm gonna sue starbucks for selling me coffee that was too hot' well maybee you should be more carefull when you have hot liquids in your hand tool!

Glad you and the evo are O.K. I've noticed that car feels very different turning in at high speed, as opposed to low speed, feels like the tail want to step out at speed and the nose wants to plow on the low speed stuff..... probably need a better alignment.. and I deffinetly need to get to a driving school in my baby before hitting the track or blasting the mountains again.

you experianced throttle lift oversteer.

If you throw the car hard into a corner, then as the suspension gets loaded in the corner (Lots of body lean) lift the throttle quickly, and the back end will come out in a controlled fashion.

Then it's like point and shoot. Point the front wheels in the direction you want to go and mash the throttle.

DONT DO THIS ON A PUBLIC ROAD, OR IN TRAFFIC OF ANY KIND.

Couple rules I play by.

1) Go easy around corners in the rain.

2) Always replace tires when 75% tread is gone.
