I seen a picture of a guys plug from his tranny. It was covered in metal shavings. Im looking to do mine here soon with 3500 miles.
Is there a better fluid to use than stock. Such as red line or royal purple?
Ths might help with the constant knock grind I get going into 2nd. and 3rd. Even with the clutch pushed in all the way for half to a full second before I shift.?
I have heard royal purple is really good.

That was my car and pics - to get a look do a search on "metal shavings".
I changed my tranny fluid at 3500 the first time; and again this weekend at about 7200. This time around there were about 1/2 the shavings that appeared in the first set of pics. The only reason I opted to change the fluid again was that my tranny was beginning to make of noise again. When I change the fluid my tranny get quiet.
My guess is that the shavings are fairly normal as long as there aren't any chunks. What looked like solid metal flakes in the picture actually turned into a metalic paste when squished.
