Boost leak????

ok so the other day i threw in a type rs bov and noticed that my boost guage was only boosting to 1.2 (metric) and i think that is only 17 psi. So i threw the stock one back in and made sure everything is on properly and tightened. But idk if it is just me but my car doesnt feel like it is pulling like it used to. 1st gear, boost is only going to 1.1-1.2, 2nd gear it is 1.2 1/2, then 3rd gear is 1.3 and i'm pretty sure that 1.3 is ok but idk bout 1st and 2nd. I alwasy thought my boost went to like 1.3 in every gear but i didn't pay attention so closely. Is this normal or probably a boost leak? I don't want to do a boost leak test, seemed complicated

Thanks dustin

well why don't you do a boost leak test and find out? asking "do i have a boost leak" on the internet doesn't help or fix it.

Just a note: on a turbo car if something doesn't feel right with the way it runs - do a boost leak test first and then go from there.

or i could just ask the question that i did ask and find out if it is normal for first and 2nd gear to be hitting 1.2 on the metric boost gauge. then 1.3 in third gear because 1.3=19psi.....you do the math here, which is easier? Because if stock evo's don't do what mine is doing then obviously there is probably a boost leak. I just don't remember if mine did that before or not. and i did not ask "Do I have a boost leak"

the title of your post is "Boost leak????", so yes you did ask.

my car usually does not hit full boost in first gear, the car gets to redline before the turbo is fully spooled, but i'm pretty sure it gets full boost in second.

do a boost leak test and post what you find, maybe that will cut down on boost leak questions.

Boost leak test isn't complicated at all. Just need a buddy to help you out a bit or not then you can be like me and do it yourself not that bad. Im hitting full boost (19-20psi) in every gear so your prolly having a leak somewhere and its common to have a leak because you probably didn't tight somewhere down hard enough so that could be your problem.
