maf problems

Ive been having some probs with the car with either the maf or the adaptor for it. The car is running kind of crappy when i get on it but me and dnealy know for sure is either the maf or the adaptor for the kn for sure since we put them in his car and cause the same problem. My maf looks a little dirty and here is the pic of the adaptor which seems the maf seems to overlap on it. So is it the maf, the adaptor or both?

Here is a pic of the adaptor fiting in the part that goes to the maf
Tell me what you guys think thanks

I would suspect the adapter. It doesn't look like a very smooth transition. Air will tumble over the blocked portion at the bottom of the adapter and cause turbulence in the maf possibly.
